  1. 1. On Surface Characteristics and Microstructural Development of Soft Magnetic Composite Powder and Components

    Author : Christos Oikonomou; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; compaction; annealing; X-ray diffraction; soft magnetic composites; high resolution scanning electron microscopy; surface layers; magnetic testing; powder metallurgy; depth profiling; electron backscatter diffraction; focused ion beam; thickness determination; energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy; microstructure;

    Abstract : Soft Magnetic Composite (SMC) products manufactured by traditional Powder Metallurgical (PM) techniques, are strong candidate materials for electromagnetic applications. Their advantages are based on cost and energy efficient production methods, shape complexity realization and uniquely uniform and isotropic three dimensional (3D) magnetic properties. READ MORE

  2. 2. Surface Studies of Model Systems relevant for Pd and Ag Catalysts

    Author : Natalia Martin; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; High Pressure X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy; X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy; alumina; Ag; NiAl; Pd; catalysis; model system; Surface X-ray Diffraction; Low Energy Electron Diffraction; Scanning Tunneling Microscopy; Fysicumarkivet A:2014:Martin;

    Abstract : This PhD thesis reports on investigations of the atomic scale structure of model catalysts relevant for the catalytic oxidation of CO and methane over Pd, and NOx reduction over silver-alumina, important reactions in automotive catalysts. By using complementary experimental techniques such as X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy, High Pressure X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy, Surface X-ray Diffraction, Low Energy Electron Diffraction, Infrared Spectroscopy, and Scanning Tunneling Microscopy, combined with theoretical calculations, the work presented in this thesis aims at an atomistic characterization of the active sites for silver-alumina and Pd model catalysts which may help to the design of new and improved catalysts. 3. 3. CO, CO2 and N2 hydrogenation reactions probed by operando x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy

    Author : David Degerman; Anders Nilsson; Miquel Salmeron; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Operando Catalysis; Hydrogenation reactions; High-Pressure X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy; Syngas; kemisk fysik; Chemical Physics;

    Abstract : Catalytic reactions are essential for generating the chemical products required by the modern society. In particular, reactions related to clean energy storage and generation as well as fertilizer production are facilitated by catalysts. However, the processes are often insufficiently understood at a mechanistic level. READ MORE

  4. 4. Synchrotron X-ray based characterization of technologically relevant III-V surfaces and nanostructures

    Author : Andrea Troian; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; synchrotron radiation; III-V semiconductors; high-k oxides; passivation; doping; XPS; AP-XPS; SPEM; XRF; full field X-ray diffraction microscopy; Fysicumarkivet A:2019:Troian;

    Abstract : Innovative design and materials are needed to satisfy the demand for efficient and scalable devices for electronic and opto-electronic applications, such as transistors, LEDs, and solar cells. Nanostructured III-V semiconductors are an appealing solution, combining the excellent functional properties of III-V materials with the flexibility typical of nanostructures, such as the nanowires (NWs) studied here.
