  1. 1. Drop Break-up in High-Pressure Homogenisers

    Author : Fredrik Innings; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Food and drink technology; Livsmedelsteknik; plasma; fluiddynamik; Gaser; plasmas; fluid dynamics; POD; Gases; PIV; Eddy; Flow; Jet; Milk; Break-up; Emulsion; Drop; Homogeniser;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this project was to investigate the drop break-up process in milk homogenisers. This was done by measurements and calculations of the flow fields in the gap region and by visualisation of drops being broken up. To make visualisation and measurements possible, two scale models of a homogeniser gap were developed. READ MORE

  2. 2. Alternative back contacts for CZTS thin film solar cells

    Author : Sven Englund; Charlotte Platzer Björkman; Jonathan J. Scragg; Levent Gütay; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CZTS; thin film solar cells; back contacts; passivation; interface; titanium nitride; ATO; antimony-doped tin oxide; transparent back contact; CZTS; tunnfilmssolceller; bakkontakter; passivering; gränsskikt; mellanskikt; titannitrid; antimondopad tennoxid; ATO; transparent bakkontakt; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot elektronik; Engineering Science with specialization in Electronics;

    Abstract : In this thesis, alternative back contacts for Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) thin film solar cells were investigated. Back contacts for two different configurations were studied, namely traditional single-junction cells with opaque back contacts and transparent back contacts for possible use in either tandem or bifacial solar cell configuration. 3. 3. Microsystems for Harsh Environments

    Author : Stefan Knaust; Lena Klintberg; Klas Hjort; Fredric Ericson; Samuel Marre; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Microsystems; harsh environments; high pressures; high temperatures; supercritical microfluidics; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot mikrosystemteknik; Engineering Science with specialization in Microsystems Technology;

    Abstract : When operating microsystems in harsh environments, many conventionally used techniques are limiting. Further, depending on if the demands arise from the environment or the conditions inside the system, different approaches have to be used. READ MORE

  4. 4. Microactuators for Powerful Pumps

    Author : Roger Bodén; Klas Hjort; Jan-Åke Schweitz; Johan Nilsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; µTAS; chromatography; high pressure; lab-on-a-chip; microactuator; microdispenser; micropump; on-chip; paraffin; PCM; point-of-care; Engineering physics; Teknisk fysik;

    Abstract : When paraffin wax melts it exhibits a large, relatively incompressible volume expansion. This can be used in microactuators for strong and large displacements, a rare combination among actuators. Furthermore, paraffin is inexpensive, inert and environmentally friendly, as well as easily processed and actuated. READ MORE

  5. 5. Discogenic pain - A diagnostic challenge

    Author : Hanna Hebelka; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; discography; disc; disc pressure; low back pain; axial loaded MRI; validity;

    Abstract : Low back pain (LBP) is a common health complaint with a lifetime prevalence up to 80%. Patients with discogenic pain constitute a minority of all with LBP but represent an important group with substantial personal consequences and high demands on health-care and social systems.
