1. Synthesis and Characterization of Sec-Packings Based on Trimethylolpropane Trimethacrylate
Abstract : Suspension and bulk polymerization of trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate (TRIM) and copolymerization of TRIM with methyl methacrylate (MMA) resulted in porous, hydrophobic, and chemically crosslinked networks. Copolymerization of TRIM with acrylamide (AA) and with N,N'-methylene-bis-acrylamide (bis-AA) resulted in hydrophilic gels. READ MORE

2. Chemical Functionalization and Characterization of Cellulosic Materials
Abstract : Polysaccharides are the most abundant biopolymers produced in nature and belong, together with proteins and nucleic acids, to the main components of life. Polysaccharides are polyhydroxylic polymers that can be functionalized by a wide selection of chemical reactions, and modifications of these biopolymers are applicable in the development of new materials. 3. Bulk and interfacial properties of cellulose ethers
Abstract : This work summarizes several studies that all concern cellulose ethers of the types methylcellulose (MC) hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC) and ethyl(hydroxyethyl)cellulose (EHEC). They share the feature of negative temperature response, as they are soluble in water at room temperature but phase separate and sometimes form gels at high temperatures. READ MORE

4. Dendrimers : Synthesis, Characterization and Use in Thiol-Ene Networks
Abstract : Dendrimers are perfectly branched, well-defined macromolecules with a layered structure and a large amount of peripheral end groups. The high functionality in combination with the possibility of dendrimers to adopt a globular shape at high molecular weights, gives them very unique properties. READ MORE

5. High spectral efficiency transmission using optical frequency combs
Abstract : Modern long-haul optical communication systems transmit data on all available single-mode fiber dimensions, time, polarization, wavelength, phase and amplitude. Powerful digital signal processing and forward error correction has pushed the per-channel throughput towards its theoretical limits and the bandwidth is limited by the erbium-doped fiber amplifiers.
