  1. 1. Monotonic and Cyclic Plastic Deformation of High-Strength Aluminium Alloys

    Author : Magnus Hörnqvist Colliander; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Strain rate effects; Heat treatment; Dynamic strain ageing; Precipitation hardening; Low cycle fatigue; AA7030; Plastic deformation; Temperature effects; EN AW-7030; Al-Zn-Mg; Strain hardening; Mechanical properties; Dynamic precipitation.;

    Abstract : Dynamic strain ageing (DSA) and dynamic precipitation (DP) are two, closely interrelated, phenomena arising from the dynamic interaction between mobile solute atoms and dislocations. The occurrence of DSA and DP is confined to specific ranges of strain rate and temperature, and aluminium alloys are generally prone to experience DSA and DP already at ambient temperatures and conventional strainrates. 2. 2. High strain rate deformation of Alloy 718

    Author : Joakim Johansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Split-Hopkinson; Alloy 718; Johnson-Cook;

    Abstract : Alloy 718 is a high temperature alloy, used where high temperature strength or oxidation resistance is required. As the alloy is precipitate heat treatable it is possible to have a large variety of strength depending on microstructure. READ MORE

  3. 3. High strain-rate experiments using high-speed photography

    Author : Jörgen Kajberg; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Abstract : In many technical processes, material is deformed under conditions that contain high strain rates. Examples of such processes are collisions, impact, penetration, metal forming and crack propagation. Constitutive models including viscoplasticity have been proposed for these kinds of situations. 4. 4. Microstructural changes in high strength steels exposed to large deformation and high strain rates

    Author : Kristina Ryttberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; deformation mechanisms; high-velocity forming; high-velocity parting-off; adiabatic shear band; cold ring rolling; TEM; steel;

    Abstract : Increasing steel prices and environmental aspects have put forward the demand to reduce material consumption and energy usage in manufacturing industry and near-net-shape manufacturing techniques have thus become increasingly important. High-velocity parting-off,high-velocity forming and cold ring rolling are three such manufacturing methods that exhibit great potentials in terms of material waste reduction. READ MORE

  5. 5. Experimental Studies of Deformation Structures in Stainless Steels using EBSD

    Author : Karin Yvell; Annika Borgenstam; Peter Hedström; Göran Engberg; Johan Moverare; Högskolan Dalarna; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; EBSD; Austenitic stainless steels; Duplex stainless steel; In situ tensile test; Grain boundaries; Grain rotation; Grain size distribution; Texture; Strain hardening; Structure-property relationship; High strain rate; Wire rod rolling; Roll forming; Steel Forming and Surface Engineering; Stålformning och ytteknik;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the focus has been the study of deformation structures in stainless steels by using electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD). Via increased knowledge of the evolution of the substructure during deformation, the design and control of the manufacturing process can be improved. READ MORE
