1. Neural limits of visual resolution
Abstract : Aims: The aim of this thesis was to formulate a model of retinal neural circuitry in humans based on morphological estimates of retinal cone and ganglion cell populations, to compare results based on this model to psychophysical measurements of visual resolution and identify the retinal neural factors that limit visual resolution.Materials & Methods: Total displacement of central ganglion cells from foveal cones was obtained by estimating the length of fibers of Henle in four human retinas along the nasal or vertical hemi-meridians. 2. Diagnosing and monitoring open-angle glaucoma. Pupillometry and other novel techniques
Abstract : Aim:To investigate the ability of a custom-built pupillometer and other novel diagnostic instruments to detect and monitor optic nerve damage in glaucoma. Methods:In the first two studies we investigated pupillary reactions to light in patients with glaucoma and in healthy persons using a custom-built pupillometer. 3. Diffractive Optical Elements: Fabrication, Replication, and Applications and Optical Properties of a Visual Field Test
Abstract : This thesis mainly treats the fabrication, replication and applications of diffractive optical elements. A smaller part deals with optical properties of a visual field test. Diffractive optical elements are computer-generated micro-optic components that use diffraction to manipulate light. READ MORE

5. Optical frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) range and velocity measurements
Abstract : Today a number of different optical techniques capable of measuring range, velocity or both exist. With recent advancements in laser diode manufacturing, small tunable sources have become available. By modulating current supplied to the laser the optical output frequency can be modulated. READ MORE
