1. Methods for Preclinical Evaluation of Cytotoxic Drugs : With Special Reference to the Cyanoguanidine CHS 828 and Hollow Fiber Method
Abstract : The novel cyanoguanidine CHS 828 has shown promising antitumor activity in many in vitro and in vivo studies. The long-term 14 days in vitro hollow fiber cultures, where tumor cells from different tumor cell lines were cultured inside semipermeable fibers, were more resistant to CHS 828 and other cytotoxic drugs than the shorter-term 3 days cultures. 2. Development of Techniques to Produce Nickel Coated Composite Materials as well as Hollow Nickel Fibres and Kinetic Study of the Process Involved
Abstract : The present thesis was mainly to study the preparation of nickel composite materials by chemical plating process. Nickel coated boron nitride particles, nickel coated spherical silica particles and nickel viscose composite fibres were prepared. Both experiment and model development were carried out to study the kinetics of the processes. READ MORE

3. Analyses of Dose-Response and Mechanistic Action of Different Anti-Cancer Drugs for Neuroendocrine Tumor Cell Lines
Abstract : Cancer is a disease with poor response rates on available treatments. Problems with resistance and intolerance against cancer drugs are major reasons for failure of the drugs. The need to discover new cancer drugs is important. In this thesis screening of new cancer drugs and evaluation of their mechanism of action are discussed. READ MORE

4. Application of new methodology for preclinical development of anticancer drugs : With special focus on camptothecin derivatives and the cyanoguanidine CHS 828
Abstract : This work describes the development and evaluation of new methods for preclinical anticancer drug development. The methods were specifically applied to study camptothecin analogues and the new compound CHS 828 (N-(4-chlorophenoxyhexyl)-N'-cyano-N"-4-pyridylguanidine) currently in early clinical trials.
