  1. 1. Endothelin and angiotensin II receptors in human coronary arteries and bypass grafts - Alterations in cardiovascular disease

    Author : Angelica Wackenfors; Lunds universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kardiovaskulära systemet; Cardiovascular system; vasoconstriction; receptors; cardiovascular disease; human; coronary arteries;

    Abstract : Angiotensin II (Ang II) and endothelin-1 (ET-1) induce strong vasoconstriction via activation of receptors on vascular smooth muscle cells. In this thesis, the contractile Ang II and endothelin receptors were examined in endothelium-denuded human coronary arteries and in bypass grafts (the left internal mammary artery and the saphenous vein), with focus on receptor alterations in cardiovascular disease. 2. 2. Coronary Reactive Hyperemia

    Author : Göran Olivecrona; Kardiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kardiovaskulära systemet; Cardiovascular system; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; t-PA; P2Y1-receptors; Hypothermia; Coronary; Reactive hyperemia;

    Abstract : Introduction: The mechanism of post ischemic reactive hyperemia is still unknown but now thought to be multifactorial and perhaps involving purinergic signalling. Purines such as ATP and ADP have recently been discovered to play a vital role in the regulation of vascular tone. READ MORE

  3. 3. Angiotensin II Receptors in the Human Coronary Circulation and in Heart Failure

    Author : Emil Pantev; Kardiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kardiovaskulära systemet; Cardiovascular system; Heart Failure; Human Coronary Arteries; Angiotensin II; AT receptors;

    Abstract : Angiotensin II (Ang II) is a potent vasoconstrictor that is implicated in the pathogenesis of hypertension, heart failure and atherosclerosis. In this thesis, the efficacy and safety of Ang II receptor blockers (ARB) were evaluated. READ MORE

  4. 4. Factors Affecting Coronary Flow in Children

    Author : Elhadi Aburawi; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine human and vertebrates ; cardiopulmonary bypass; transthoracic Doppler echocardiography; coronary flow; Pediatri; endothelial dysfunction; C-reactive protein; Medicin människa och djur ; Pediatrics; Cardiovascular system; Kardiovaskulära systemet;

    Abstract : Factors Affecting Coronary Flow in Children Elhadi H. Aburawi, MD, MSc, FRCPI, FRCPCH Division of Paediatric Cardiology, Department of Paediatrics, Lund University, Sweden Abstract Background: A number of inborn and exogenous factors influence the flow and function of the coronary arteries with possible consequences on the cardiovascular risk. 5. 5. Insight into Coro-Carotid atherosclerotic disease in patients with acute coronary syndrome

    Author : Rafik B. Shenouda; Michael Y. Henein; Per Wester; Ana Djordjevic-Dikic; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Acute coronary syndrome; Agatston score; Atherosclerosis; Carotid calcifications; Carotid intima media thickness; Coronary calcifications; Echocardiography; Speckle tracking echocardiography; Strain; Strain rate; Tissue Doppler Imaging.; kardiologi; Cardiology;

    Abstract : Background: the arterial tree branches in different parts of human body are sharing the histological and physiological features. Atherosclerosis is a systemic arterial disease, hence is expected to affect to affect more than one arterial system with similar pathologic manifestations. READ MORE
