1. Late Holocene humidity variability in central Sweden
Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to reconstruct humidity variability in central Sweden during the late Holocene. A multi-proxy approach was used to infer humidity changes as recorded in a lake and a mire. Age-models were constructed based on radiocarbon dating and the Askja-1875 tephra. READ MORE

2. Short-term effects of ambient temperature on daily deaths and hospital admissions
Abstract : Background: Incidence of death and hospitalizations have been observed to depend on short-term changes in weather and to increase with extreme temperatures. This thesis aims to strengthen the scientific knowledge on the relationship between temperature and daily deaths, but also the relationship between temperature and daily hospital admissions. 3. Micro-mechanical mechanisms for deformation in polymer-material structures
Abstract : In this thesis, the focus has been on micro-mechanical mechanisms in polymer-based materials and structures. The first part of the thesis treats length-scale effects on polymer materials. Experiments have showed that the smaller the specimen, the stronger is the material. READ MORE

4. Satellite measurements and climate modelling of water in the tropical upper troposphere
Abstract : The International Panel on Climate Change (2007) has identified key areas of uncertainty with regards to future climate change, e.g., the upper troposphere. A portion of the uncertain- ties come from climate models and this makes model accuracy very important. READ MORE

5. Holocene climate and environmental dynamics on the Tristan da Cunha island group, South Atlantic
Abstract : It has been shown that the present interglacial has been climatically dynamic with both rapid and severe climatic fluctuations. The spatial and temporal differences of these changes are however not fully resolved. The aim of this thesis is to present a detail high resolution record of past climate changes from the central South Atlantic. READ MORE
