  1. 1. Effects of solar radiation on the abiotic and bacterially mediated carbon flux in aquatic ecosystems

    University dissertation from Department of Ecology, Lund University

    Author : Alexandre Magno Anesio; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2000]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; bacteria; dissolved inorganic carbon DIC ; bioavailability; aquatic macrophytes; photooxidation; detritus decomposition; Ultraviolet radiation; dissolved organic carbon DOC ; fungi; Hydrobiology; marine biology; aquatic ecology; limnology; Marinbiologi; limnologi; akvatisk ekologi;

    Abstract : Popular Abstract in Swedish Solljusets effekter på abiotiska och bakteriella kolflöden i akvatiska system I denna avhandling behandlar jag solljusets effekter på organiskt material. Jag har analyserat hur solljus förändrar olika sorters löst organiskt kol och partikulärt organiskt kol. READ MORE

  2. 2. Direct and indirect effects of fish predation and excretion in aquatic food webs

    University dissertation from Limnologiska avdelningen, Ekologihuset S-223 62 Lund, Sweden

    Author : José Luiz Attayde; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2000]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; marine biology; Hydrobiology; zooplankton; resilience; predation; phytoplankton; nutrient enrichment; nutrient recycling; interaction strength; herbivory; food webs; food chain; excretion; fish; detritus; detritivory; aquatic ecology; limnology; Marinbiologi; limnologi; akvatisk ekologi; Ecology; Ekologi;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to elucidate the mechanisms by which planktivorous fish can affect planktonic communities in lakes and how they may affect benthic communities through their effects on planktonic communities. In a laboratory experiment, nutrients released by fish increased algal biomass and altered phytoplankton community structure, suggesting that fish can affect phytoplankton by directly releasing nutrients. 3. 3. Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) in a river ecosystem

    University dissertation from Chemical Ecology and Ecotoxicology, Department of Biology, Lund University

    Author : Gudrun Bremle; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [1997]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hydrobiology; dredging; landfill; cleanup; remedial action; air; fish; sediment; Persistent organic pollutants; freshwater; marine biology; aquatic ecology; limnology; Marinbiologi; limnologi; akvatisk ekologi;

    Abstract : Popular Abstract in Swedish Atmosfäriskt nedfall är den största källan till miljögiftet PCB i sötvatten. I flertalet vattendrag, exempelvis Emån, fungererar också sediment som en källa. Ett pappersbruk i anslutning till Emån hade använt returpapper som innehöll PCB som råvara. READ MORE

    Abstract : Popular Abstract in Swedish Svensk populärvetenskaplig sammanfattning: Miljögift är mat för bakterier i grundvatten Jag har undersökt bakteriers nedbrytning av organiska miljögifter i grundvatten och intresserat mig för hur den påverkas av gifternas vidhäftning till sand och bakteriernas aktivitet och mångfald. Sådan kunskap kan bidra till att förhindra gifters spridning till t. READ MORE
