  1. 1. EXPLORING MOTIVATIONAL MECHANISMS IN EXERCISE BEHAVIOUR : Applying Self-determination theory in a person-centred approach

    Abstract : Involvement in physical activity (PA) and exercise behaviour is multifaceted and depends on bidirectional correlations between multiple factors; one avenue to increase the understanding of sustainable exercise behaviours would be to employ a motivational perspective. In this thesis, this was done by placing the primary focus on Self-determination theory (SDT) as a person-centred approach to study the motivational mechanisms believed to impact exercise behaviour based on the SDT process model. The intention of consumption taxation is to tax expenditures made by persons for their private purposes, i.e. READ MORE

  3. 3. New neurons and astrocytes in the adult brain. Studies on adult rat neural progenitors in vivo and in vitro with special reference to the effects of IGF-I and CNTF regarding proliferation and lineage determination

    Author : Maria A I Åberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Brain; hippocampus; rat; neurogenesis; progenitor cell; stem cell; ciliary neurotrophic factor; insulin-like growth factor-I; PI3-K; MAPK.;

    Abstract : The hippocampal dentate gyrus in several species, including man, continues to produce new neurons and glial cells in adulthood. The generation of new neurons and glial cells in the adult hippocampus is under strict regulation. Two major events of significance for cell genesis from progenitor cells are proliferation and lineage determination. READ MORE

  4. 4. Investigation of Exocytosis for a New Paradigm of Plasticity in Biological Systems Using Electrochemistry and Mass Spectrometry Imaging

    Author : Chaoyi Gu; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Cellular communication is a vital process and serves as the basis for complex brain functions in multicellular organisms. The majority of cellular communication is achieved via the release of specific signaling molecules, transmitters and modulators, via a process termed exocytosis. READ MORE
