1. Growth Hormone in Athletes
Abstract : Doping with growth hormone (GH) is a well-known problem both among elite athletes and among people training at gyms. It is mainly the anabolic and, to some extent, lipolytic effect of GH that is valued by its users. READ MORE

2. Parathyroid hormone-related protein (PTHrP), calcium and human osteoblast-like cells
Abstract : Parathyroid hormone-related protein (PTHrP) may cause humoral hypercalcernia of malignancy (HHM) when overproduced by malignant tumors, but is also produced in lower amounts under normophysiological conditions in practically all cell types, including osteoblasts. One of the aims of the present study was to investigate interactions between PTHrP and osteoblasts, to elucidate bone-regulating functions of PTHrP. READ MORE

3. Bone disease and diabetes mellitus
Abstract : Diabetes Mellitus (DM) and Osteoporosis (OP) frequently co-exist with advanced age and imply large health challenges worldwide. The last decades there has been a growing interest regarding fracture risk in DM. Currently used screening methods (Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA) and FRAX) underestimate fracture risk in diabetes patients. READ MORE

4. Spinal motoneurons and molecules related to neurotrophic function after axon injury
Abstract : The capacity of motoneurons to survive and regenerate new axons after injuries such as axotomy depends on a great variety of parameters. After sciatic nerve transection (SNT) in adult rats and to some extent after a ventral funiculus lesion (VFL), many cells survive and regeneration is highly prioritized. READ MORE

5. Regulation and actions of insulin-like growth factor binding proteins in vascular smooth muscle cells
Abstract : Insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) has multiple actions on vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMCs) function. In the circulation and in extracellular fluids, IGF-I is complexed to high affinity IGF-binding proteins (IGFBPs), which modulate IGF-I bioactivity. The present study focused on expression and regulation of IGFBPs in VSMCs. READ MORE
