  1. 1. Electricity Distribution Network Planning Considering Distributed Generation

    Author : Yalin Huang; Lennart Söder; Karin Alvehag; Peiyuan Chen; KTH; []
    Keywords : Electricity distribution network; network planning; distributed generation; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : One of EU’s actions against climate change is to meet 20% of our energy needs from renewable resources. Given that the renewable resources are becoming more economical to extract electricity from, this will result in that more and more distributed generation (DG) will be connected to power distribution. 2. 2. Network Programming Applied too Operation Planning of Hydrothermal Power Systems

    Author : Håkan Brännlund; Janis Bubenko; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hydro power; Optimization; Network programming; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : The objective of the project was to develop models and methods suitable for computer implementation. In particular, this work has been devoted to generation scheduling of a power system with a sizeable amount. of hydro energy. READ MORE

  3. 3. Wind Power - Added Value for Network Operation

    Author : Nayeem Ullah; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; torsional oscillation; reactive power ancillary service; voltage stability; power system simulator.; STATCOM; non-minimum phase system; Variable speed wind turbine; frequency control; sensitivity analysis; transient stability; small-signal stability;

    Abstract : This dissertation deals with the investigation on different value added properties of variable speed wind turbines (VSWT) that stem from the flexible controllability of converter interfaced wind turbines (WT). Improvements in voltage and transient stability of a nearby grid, small-signal stability improvement on the power system, frequency control support for the network operation, as well as thetechnical and the economic issues related to the reactive power ancillary service provision, are among the issues covered. 4. 4. The Analysis of Thermal Power Stations and their Interaction with the Power System using Simulator Test Methods

    Author : Jan Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; thermal power station; network simulator; frequency control; island operation; turbine model;

    Abstract : This thesis describes a new method of testing power stations with regard to their frequency control behaviour and analyses results obtained using this new method. The test concept is based on that the power station unit to be tested remains synchronized onto its normal strong network, whereas the frequency control behaviour is set up to be that of the conditions if the unit was working on a much smaller network, using a computer based simulator system and feeding simulated control signals to the input of the units frequency control system. 5. 5. A Programmable Network Interface Accelerator

    Author : Ulf Nordqvist; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : The bandwidth and number of users in computer networks are rapidly growing today. The need for added functionality in the network nodes is also increasing. The requirements on the processing devices get harder and harder to meet using traditional hardware architectures. READ MORE
