  1. 1. Urban drainage and climate change : impact assessment

    Author : Karolina Berggren; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Abstract : According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC, 2007), the global mean temperature has increased by 0,7 °C during the last 100 years and, as a consequence, the hydrological cycle has intensified with, for example, more intense rainfall events. As urban drainage systems have been developed over a long period of time and design criteria are based upon climatic characteristics, these changes will affect the systems and the city accordingly. 2. 2. Life cycle assessment in the development of forest products : Contributions to improved methods and practices

    Author : Gustav Sandin; Magdalena Svanström; Greg Peters; Mats Westin; Annica Pilgård; Michael Narodoslawsky; RISE; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; R D; LCA; Life cycle assessment; wood; forest product; forestry; impact assessment; scenario modelling; end-of-life modelling; allocation; multi-functional; planetary boundaries; life cycle inventory; life cycle impact assessment; environmental assessment;

    Abstract : The prospect of reducing environmental impacts is a key driver for the research and development (R&D) of new forest products. Life cycle assessment (LCA) is often used for assessing the environmental impact of such products, e.g. for the purpose of guiding R&D. READ MORE

  3. 3. Accident Risk and Environmental Assessment : Development of an Assessment Guideline with Examination in Northern Scandinavia

    Author : Markus Lundkvist; Lennart Strömquist; Christer Jonasson; Rolf Nyberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geography; accident; risk; hazard; environmental assessment; geomorphology; railway; road; avalanche; debris flow; rock fall; slush flow; torrent; moose; reindeer; environmental impact assessment; proposal alternatives; Kiruna; Narvik; Geografi; Other earth sciences; Övrig geovetenskap;

    Abstract : In environmental impact assessment (EIA), accident risk should be considered as one impact. However, few studies have compared assessed risk levels with documented accidents. There is thus a need for assessing accuracy of risk assessment methodologies. READ MORE

  4. 4. A Changing Arctic Climate : Science and Policy in the Arctic Climate Impact Assessment

    Author : Annika E. Nilsson; Björn-Ola Linnér; Sofie Storbjörk; Oran R. Young; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Arctic; climate; framing; knowledge production; regime; institution; actor network; co-production; indigenous knowledge; Arktis; klimat; kunskapsproduktion; regim; institution; aktörsnätverk; traditionell kunskap; INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AREAS; TVÄRVETENSKAPLIGA FORSKNINGSOMRÅDEN;

    Abstract : Climate change has often been framed as a global issue but slow progress in the global climate negotiations and an increasing need to plan for local adaptation have made it increasingly salient to also discuss the potential of other arenas for climate policy and knowledge production. This dissertation analyzes the interplay between science and policy at the international regional level based on a study of an assessment of the impacts of climate change in the Arctic. READ MORE

  5. 5. Environmental Impact Assessment using Production Flow Simulation

    Author : Jon Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Discrete Event Simulation; Life cycle assessment; Environmental impact assessment;

    Abstract : A higher-level perspective for production engineers and enables detailed assessment of dynamic manufacturing systems environmental impact at a system level. By using simulation, the simulation engineer enables to understand how minor adjustments affect the system. READ MORE
