  1. 1. Wave-actuated Preform Infiltration Routines in MMC Production

    Author : Lars-Olov Pennander; Industriell Produktion; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Material technology; Magnetostrictive; Vibration; Actuation; Wave; Infiltration; Preform; Metal; Composites; MMC; Materiallära; materialteknik;

    Abstract : The implementation of highly magnetostrictive wave-actuator techniques in preform infiltration processes for metal-matrix composite production is described. Metal matrix materials require additional methods to handle the content, shape and position of the ceramic reinforcements, which are not required for metal alloy casting. READ MORE

  2. 2. Hydrocephalus in children. Epidemiology and outcome

    Author : Eva-Karin Persson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Prevalence; Epidemiology; Hydrocephalus; MMC; Treatment; Outcome;

    Abstract : Aims: To analyse trends in the live-birth prevalence of infantile hydrocephalus and hydrocephalus associated with myelomeningocele (MMC) during the period 1989-2002 and to study the outcome in terms of learning disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy and visual deficits. Another objective was to explore motor function and disability profiles in various aetiological and gestational-age subgroups and to see whether treatment complications and neuroradiological findings correlate with outcome. 3. 3. Tolerance Mechanisms in Collagen-Induced Arthritis an Animal Model of Rheumatoid Arthritis

    Author : Alexandra Treschow; Immunologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Skeleton; Tolerance; Regulation; IFN-beta; Macrophages; Immunology; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi; Arthritis; Collage; rheumatology locomotion; muscle system; Skelett; muskelsystem; reumatologi;

    Abstract : Collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) is one of the most commonly used animal models for Rheumatoid arthritis (RA). CIA is induced in susceptible mouse strains after immunization with heterologous type II collagen (CII). In mice of the H-2q haplotype rat CII (rCII) is used whereas in mice of the H-2r haplotype bovine CII is utilized. READ MORE

  4. 4. Cost-effective Cells for High-power Modular Multilevel Converters

    Author : Matthijs Heuvelmans; Staffan Norrga; Hans-Peter Nee; Rik De Doncker; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MMC; modular multilevel converter; ARCP; IGCT; soft-switching; ZVS; ZCS; snubber; thyristor; SCR; silicon controlled rectifier; HVDC; STATCOM; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : The modular multilevel converter (MMC) topology was introduced in 2003and has since been receiving considerable attention from industry and academia.Notable benefits compared to two- or three-level voltage source convertersare its scalability, low switching losses, low output filter requirementsand ease of adding redundancy combined with fail-safe operation. 5. 5. Analysis of VSC-based HVDC systems

    Author : Georgios Stamatiou; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HVDC; MMC; MTDC; Poor damping; Symbolic eigenvalue expressions; Droop control; Passivity Analysis; Net damping; Frequency Domain Analysis; VSC;

    Abstract : The main objective of this thesis is to perform stability and control studies in the area of VSC-HVDC systems. A major part of the investigation focuses on the development of procedures, whose aim is to understand, explain and avoid poorly-damped conditions or instability that may appear due to dc-side resonances, which stem from the interaction of converters and passive elements in such systems.
