1. On the deformation behavior and cracking of ductile iron; effect of microstructure
Abstract : This thesis focuses on the effect of microstructural variation on the mechanical properties and deformation behavior of ductile iron. To research and determine these effects, two grades of ductile iron, (i) GJS-500-7 and (ii) high silicon GJS-500-14, were cast in a geometry containing several plates with different section thicknesses in order to produce microstructural variation. 2. Selective epitaxy and in-situ etching studies on III-V semiconductor surfaces
Abstract : Semiconductor lasers are widely used in e.g. opticalcommunication networks or data storage and retrieval in CDs orDVDs. As the applications of this type of lasers grow, thedemands on low power consumption, high operating speed, orsmall device size are becoming more important. READ MORE

3. Corrosion Behavior of Duplex Stainless Steels in Acidic-Chloride Solutions Studied with Micrometer Resolution
Abstract : The local corrosion behavior of duplex stainless steel (DSS)is affected by a wide variety of factors. Localized corrosionof DSS frequently starts at micrometer scale inclusions orprecipitates, which are often segregated in theaustenite-ferrite boundary regions. READ MORE

4. High performance materials and processing technology for uncooled 1.3 μm laser diodes
Abstract : This thesis investigates different material systems and processing technology for high temperature compatible laser diodes used in volume applications within the 1.3-μm telecom wavelength window. READ MORE

5. Microstructure and deformation behaviour of ductile iron under tensile loading
Abstract : The current thesis focuses on the deformation behaviour and strain distribution in the microstructure of ductile iron during tensile loading. Utilizing Digital Image Correlation (DIC) and in-situ tensile test under optical microscope, a method was developed to measure high resolution strain in microstructural constitutes. READ MORE
