  1. 1. Impacts of climate change on surface hydrology in the source region of the Yellow River

    Author : Feifei Yuan; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Source region of the Yellow River; climate change; summer precipitation; ENSO; teleconnection pattern; sea surface temperature; Xinanjiang model; Rainfall-Runoff process;

    Abstract : The source region of the Yellow River contributes about 35% of the total water yield in the Yellow River basin playing an important role for meeting the downstream water resources requirements. The declining water availability caused by climate change in the source region of the Yellow River is expected to have severe repercussions for the 110 million basin inhabitants in terms of water resources affecting agricultural productivity, municipal, and industrial water supply. 2. 2. Present and future precipitation variations in the source region of the Yangtze River, China

    Author : Yiheng Du; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Precipitation; water balance; ENSO; PDO; Yangtze River; Tibet Plateau; future projections;

    Abstract : The source region of the Yangtze River (SRYR), the origin of the longest river in China, is an area with high-mountains and river ecotones that face considerable challenges under climate change. Precipitation is fundamental for sustainable ecosystems in this area and for the downstream water supplies. READ MORE

  3. 3. Holocene environmental changes recorded by diatom stratigraphy in the southern Baltic Sea

    Author : Elinor Andrén; Rick W. Batterbee; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; allmän och historisk geologi; General and Historical Geology;

    Abstract : Sediment cores from the southern Baltic Sea and the Oder River estuary are analysed for their siliceous microfossil assemblages and organic carbon content. Long piston cores from the Bornholm and Gotland Basins provide data on the long-term Holocene history of the Baltic proper and serve as a natural background when evaluating the most recent environmental changes recorded in the short gravity cores.
