  1. 1. Structural and Functional Aspects of β1 Integrin Signalling

    Author : Stina Nilsson; Staffan Johansson; Teet Velling; Maria Fällman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Cell and molecular biology; Integrin; Integrin subunit β1; Integrin activation; Threonine; Phosphorylation; Integrin signalling; FAK; PI3K; MAPK; Cell- och molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : Integrins are transmembrane glycoproteins primarily mediating interactions of cells with the extracellular matrix. Each receptor is a complex of one α- and one β-subunit with affinity for a diverse set of ligands. READ MORE

  2. 2. Mechanisms of Integrin Signal Transduction

    Author : Anne Stefansson; Staffan Johansson; Annika Armulik; Björn Öbrink; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Cell biology; Integrin; Integrin signalling; PI3K; Akt PKB; Integrin transmembrane domain; cell spreading; Cellbiologi;

    Abstract : Integrins are a protein family of cell surface receptors, expressed in all cell types in the human body, except the red blood cells. Besides their importance in mediating physical connections with the surrounding environment, the integrin family members are also vital signalling mediators. READ MORE

  3. 3. Integrin Signaling in Cell Adhesion and Mechanotransduction : Regulation of PI3K, AKT, and ROS

    Author : Kathrin Stephanie Zeller; Staffan Johansson; Kristofer Rubin; John Couchman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; integrin; ROS; PI3K; AKT; mechanosignaling; actin polymerization; spreading;

    Abstract : Integrins are a family of conserved cell surface receptors found throughout the animal kingdom. They comprise 24 dimers in mammals, and regulate a number of processes including cell survival, differentiation, and migration. READ MORE

  4. 4. The mechanism of integrin inactivation and cell signalling induced by c-erbB2, an oncogenic growth factor receptor

    Author : Shahram Hedjazifar; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; c-erbB2; integrin á2â1; cell-matrix; integrin conformation; PKB; ERK; Rho; ILK; Nck-2;

    Abstract : Overexpression of the oncogenic growth factor receptor, c-erbB2, is linked with poor prognosis in breast carcinomas and is used as a target for therapeutic strategies. To elucidate the mechanism underlying the tumorigenic action of an elevated c-erbB2 level, leading to homodimerization and activation, we have used an inducible system where a hybrid receptor consisting of the cytoplasmic and transmembrane domains of c-erbB2 fused to the extracellular domain of the trkA NGF receptor has been stably transfected into an immortalized mammary epithelial cell line. 5. 5. Involvement of eicosanoid signalling in epithelial cell migration

    Author : Oliver Broom; Malmö Cellpatologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; histokemi; cytokemi; Medicin människa och djur ; Histology; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Biomedicinska vetenskaper; Biomedical sciences; Integrin; Eicosanoid; COX-2; Cell migration; cytochemistry; histochemistry; Histologi; tissue culture; vävnadskultur;

    Abstract : The development of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) and colon cancer (CC) has been shown to involve the up-regulation of inflammatory mediators and the machinery producing them such as the eicosanoids. Changes in the expression of extracellular matrix proteins and their related integrin receptors have also been shown to be important in the advancement IBD and CC. READ MORE
