1. Ion recombination in liquid ionization chambers : development of an experimental method to quantify general recombination
Abstract : An experimental method (the two-dose-rate method) for the correction of general recombination losses in liquid ionization chambers has been developed and employed in experiments with different liquids and radiation qualities. The method is based on a disassociation of initial and general recombination, since an ionized liquid is simultaneously affected by both of these processes. READ MORE

2. Calibration of Ionization Chambers for Measuring Air Kerma Integrated over Beam Area in Diagnostic Radiology
Abstract : The air kerma area product PKA is an important quantity used by hospital physicists in quality assurance and optimization processes in diagnostic radiology and is recommended by national authorities for setting of diagnostic reference levels. PKA can be measured using a transmission ionization chamber (kerma area product (KAP) meter) mounted on the collimator housing. READ MORE

3. Mixed Beam Dosimetry - From Reactor Core to BNCT Patient
Abstract : Accurate radiation dosimetry is of paramount importance in order to ensure safe delivery of radiotherapy, and for the possibility of meaningful evaluation of clinical trials, as the radiation absorbed dose is correlated to tissue response. The aim of the studies described in this thesis was to investigate and devise novel approaches to mixed beam dosimetry in boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT). READ MORE

4. Studies of clinical proton dosimetry using Monte Carlo simulation and experimental techniques
Abstract : The present work aims at improving clinical proton dosimetry based on ionization chambers, and to bring its state of development closer to the corresponding status of conventional photon and electron dosimetry. In order to accomplish this, both theoretical and experimental methods have been used. READ MORE

5. Methods for protein analysis by capillary electrophoresis and mass spectrometry
Abstract : Protein analysis is important to understanding biological systems, but sample diversity necessitates a multitude of analysis techniques and methods. Challenges that are addressed include analysis of low abundance samples, fractionation to reduce sample complexity, and automation to reduce time and cost. READ MORE
