1. Immunopathogenesis of relapsing fever borreliosis
Abstract : Relapsing fever (RF) is caused by different species of Borrelia transmitted by soft ticks or by the human body louse. Illness is characterized by reappearing peaks of high concentrations of spirochetes in blood, concordant with fever peaks separated by asymptomatic periods. READ MORE

2. Asymmetric Hydrogenations of Imines, Vinyl Fluorides, Enol Phosphinates and Other Alkenes Using N,P-Ligated Iridium Complexes
Abstract : The research described in this thesis is directed toward the efficient, enantioselective synthesis of chiral products that have useful functionality. This goal was pursued through catalytic asymmetric hydrogenation, a reaction class that selectively introduces one or two stereocenters into a molecule in an atom-efficient step. READ MORE

3. Transition Metal Catalysis for Selective Synthesis and Sustainable Chemistry
Abstract : This thesis discusses the preparation and use of transition-metal catalysts for selective organic chemical reactions. Specifically, two different matters have been studied; the asymmetric hydrogenation of carbon-carbon double bonds using N,P-ligated iridium catalysts and the metal-catalyzed transfer of small molecules from biomass to synthetic intermediates. 4. Clinical aspects of childbirth-related anxiety
Abstract : Background: Although giving birth is a positive experience for many, some 10% of pregnant Swedish women suffer from severe fear of childbirth (FOC), which impairs their daily functioning and poses a risk for a negative delivery experience. This thesis focuses on the mental and health-economic effects of severe FOC, and explores new treatment options for childbirth-related anxiety. READ MORE

5. Titchmarsh-Weyl M-function asymptotics and some results in the inverse spectral theory for vector-valued Sturm-Liouville equations and a certain higher order ordinary differential equation
Abstract : This discourse is constituted by two separate reprots, where the first one offers an elementary deduction of the leading order term asymptotics for the Titchmarsh-Weyl M-function corresponding to a vector-valued Sturm-Liouville equation of the form -(PU')'+QU=zu, xin[0,b), with P^{-1},W,Q being hermitean with locally integrable entries; and under some additional conditions on P^{-1} and W. In the special case of P=W=I, we give some further asymptotic results for the same M-function. READ MORE
