  1. 1. Brain-sparing Circulation in Growth-restricted Human Fetuses

    Author : Jing Fu; Urogynekologi och reproduktionsfarmakologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Obstetrics; gynaecology; andrology; reproduction; sexuality; Fetal growth-restriction.; Brain-sparing.; Oxytocin challenge test.; Obstetrik; gynekologi; andrologi; reproduktion; sexualitet;

    Abstract : The aim of the studies was to explore fetal circulatory changes relative to development of brain-sparing flow (BSF) in growth-restricted fetuses exposed to acute hypoxic stress, as provoked by uterine contractions during an oxytocin challenge test (OCT).(1) In fetuses with a normal cerebral circulation during basal conditions, signs of an acute hyperperfusion in both the arterial and venous cerebral vascular systems were demonstrated in response to acute hypoxic stress; (2) Fetuses with an already established BSF showed no further ability of brain-sparing during acute hypoxic stress; (3) In venous cerebral vessels of fetuses with established BSF, the flow responses to hypoxic stress were equivocal, indicating different reactions in areas drained by different veins, or a deranged physiological vascular response; (4) Blood flow changes occurred synchronized in the middle and anterior cerebral arteries when fetuses with an intact cerebral circulation were exposed to hypoxic stress; (5) When fetuses with an established BSF showed no further changes in the middle cerebral artery, no changes were found in the anterior cerebral artery either. 2. 2. Design and evaluation of network processor systems and forwarding applications

    Author : Jing Fu; Gunnar Karlsson; Tilman Wolf; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Telecommunication; Telekommunikation;

    Abstract : During recent years, both the Internet traffic and packet transmission rates have been growing rapidly, and new Internet services such as VPNs, QoS and IPTV have emerged. To meet increasing line speed requirements and to support current and future Internet services, improvements and changes are needed in current routers both with respect to hardware architectures and forwarding applications. 3. 3. On the Design of Next-Generation Routers and IP Networks

    Author : Jing Fu; Gunnar Karlsson; Andrea Bianco; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; router architecture; IP-network architecture; Telecommunication; Telekommunikation;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates distributed router architectures and IP networks with centralized control. While the current trend in IP-router architectures is towards decentralized design, there have also been research proposals for centralizing the control functions in IP networks. READ MORE

  4. 4. Numerical modeling of coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical processes in geological porous media

    Author : Fuguo Tong; Lanru Jing; Chin-Fu Tsang; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Thermo-hydro-mechanical processes; Porous geologicalmedia; Numerical modeling; FEM; Multiphase flow; Effective thermal conductivity; Water retention curve; Radioactive waste repositories; Bentonite; ; Geoengineering; Geoteknik;

    Abstract : Coupled Thermo-Hydro-Mechanical (THM) behavior in geological porous media has been a subject of great interest in many geoengineering disciplines. Many attempts have been made to develop numerical prediction capabilities associated with topics such as the movement of pollutant plumes, gas injection, energy storage, geothermal energy extraction, and safety assessment of repositories for radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel. 5. 5. Numerical modeling of fluid flow and solute transport in rock fractures

    Author : Liangchao Zou; Lanru Jing; Vladimir Cvetkovic; Chin-Fu Tsang; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Rough-walled rock fractures; Nonlinear flow; Solute transport; Navier-Stokes equations; Matrix diffusion; Uncertainty.; Mark- och vattenteknik; Land and Water Resources Engineering;

    Abstract : This study focuses on numerical modeling of fluid flow and solute transport in rough-walled rock fractures and fracture-matrix systems, with the main aim to investigate the impacts of fracture surface roughness on flow and transport processes in rock fractures. Both 2D and 3D fracture models were built from laser-scanned surface tomography of a real granite rock sample, to consider realistic features of surface tomography and potential asperity contacts.
