  1. 1. Steel-to-timber dowel joints : Influence of moisture induced stresses

    Author : Johan Sjödin; Hans Petersson; Carl-Johan Johansson; Per-Johan Gustavsson; Växjö universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; constraint stresses; contact-free measurement; dowel-type joints; humidity variations; moisture-induced deformations; timber structures; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Abstract : Joints are critical parts of timber structures, transmitting static and dynamic forces between structural members. The ultimate behavior of a loaded building depends strongly on the structural configuration and the capacity of the joints. READ MORE

  2. 2. Market, State, and Morality : Two Studies of How Left and Right Undermined Moral Motivation in the Swedish School System

    Author : Johan Wennström; Elin Wihlborg; Magnus Henrekson; Johan Tralau; Kerstin Johansson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Education; markets; morality; neoliberalism; New Public Management;

    Abstract : The bulk of the literature on the New Public Management (NPM) has been blind to the moral dimension of the market-oriented reforms of the public sector. However, this thesis studies the potential for institutional arrangements such as financial incentives and other market mechanisms to undermine intrinsic, moral motivation among both“producers” and “consumers” of tax-financed welfare services. 3. 3. Wireless High-Temperature Monitoring of Power Semiconductors : A Single-Chip Approach

    Author : Joakim Nilsson; Jonny Johansson; Johan Borg; Johan Sidén; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Industrial Electronics; Industriell elektronik;

    Abstract : Because failures in power electronic equipment can cause production stops and unnecessary damage to interconnected equipment, monitoring schemes that are able to predict such failures provide various economic and safety benefits. The primary motivation for this thesis is that such monitoring schemes can increase the reliability of energy production plants. READ MORE

  4. 4. High-Temperature Fatigue Behaviour of Austenitic Stainless Steel : Influence of Ageing on Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep-Fatigue Interaction

    Author : Hugo Wärner; Mattias Calmunger; Johan Moverare; Guocai Chai; Sten Johansson; Johan Ahlström; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : The global energy consumption is increasing and together with global warming from greenhouse gas emission, create the need for more environmental friendly energy production processes. Higher efficiency of biomass power plants can be achieved by increasing temperature and pressure in the boiler section and this would increase the generation of electricity along with the reduction in emission of greenhouse gases e. 5. 5. Barrett's oesophagus and metaplasia at the oesophagogastric junction : an epidemiological approach

    Author : Johan Johansson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Barrett s oesophagus; body mass index; cardia; diagnosis; gastric mucosa; gastroscopy; gastrooesophageal reflux; Helicobacter pylori; histology; metaplasia; oesophagogastric junction. pancreatic acinar metaplasia; risk factors;

    Abstract : The aims of this thesis were to estimate the prevalence of Barrett's oesophagus (B0) and related histological aberrations, to investigate agreement between endoscopy and histology regarding the diagnosis of BO and to investigate risk factors for BO paying particular attention to epidemiological aspects of the study design. We also investigated pancreatic acinar metaplasia (PAM) with special emphasis in its relation to gastro-oesophageal reflux and BO. READ MORE
