  2. 2. Functional Aspects of Peripheral and Spinal Cord Neurons Involved in Itch and Pain

    Author : Bejan Aresh; Malin Lagerström; Klas Kullander; Martin Schmelz; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : mGluR7; anaphylaxis; Grpr; Penk; Pdyn; Cre line; BAC cloning; spinal cord; transgenic line; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Abstract : We have investigated the role of the metabotropic glutamate receptor 7 (mGluR7) and the gastrin releasing peptide receptor (Grpr) population that are involved at different levels of itch transmission. We found that mGuR7 deficient mice displayed an anaphylaxis-like behavior when provoked with histamine. READ MORE

  3. 3. Towards Better Understanding of Etiological Mechanisms at the Neuromuscular Junction

    Author : Evgenii Bogatikov; Anna Rostedt Punga; Klas Kullander; Viktorija Kenina; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neuromuscular junction; Muscle cells; Microelectrode array; MicroRNA; Clinical Neurophysiology; Klinisk neurofysiologi; Biomedical Laboratory Science; Biomedicinsk laboratorievetenskap;

    Abstract : The neuromuscular junction (NMJ) serves as a model for understanding the mechanisms that determine communication between neurons and their target cells. Disorders of the NMJ can be either autoimmune or genetic (hereditary). READ MORE

  4. 4. Neuron-glial Interaction in the Developing Peripheral Nervous System

    Author : Mikael Corell; Åsa Fex Svenningsen; Klas Kullander; Helgi Schöith; Heape Anthony; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Schwann cell; nonmyelinating Schwann cell; myelinating Schwann cell; development; proliferation; differentiation; myelin; neural stem cell; central nervous system; peripheral nervous system; enteric nervous system; N-cadherin; GABA; GAD; GABA B receptor; baclofen; CGP55485; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap;

    Abstract : The nervous system, including the brain, is the most sophisticated organ in the mammalian body. In such a complex network, neuron-glial interaction is essential and controls most developmental processes, such as stem cell fate determination, migration, differentiation, synapse formation, ensheathment and myelination. 5. 5. Neural Control of Movement : Motor Neuron Subtypes, Proprioception and Recurrent Inhibition

    Author : Anders Enjin; Klas Kullander; Samuel L. Pfaff; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; motor neuron; proprioception; recurrent inhibition; molecular marker; Ia afferent; development; transgenic mice; Renshaw cell; Neurobiology; Neurobiologi; Neuroscience; Neurovetenskap;

    Abstract : Movement is central for life, and all animals depend on accurate regulation of movement for purposeful behavior. There is great diversity of movements, ranging between simple and vital breathing movements to minute and subtle movements of the face used to communicate emotions. READ MORE
