  1. 1. Investigations of Leucine-rich repeats and immunoglobulin-like domain-proteins 1 and 2 (LRIG1 and LRIG2) and their genes in cancer

    Author : Mahmood Faraz; Håkan Hedman; Roger Henriksson; Rolf Bjerkvig; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; LRIG1; LRIG2; PDGFR; glioma; interactome; breast cancer; prognosis; Oncology; onkologi;

    Abstract : The mammalian leucine-rich repeats and immunoglobulin-like domains (LRIG) gene family consists of three different members, LRIG1, LRIG2, and LRIG3. These genes are expressed in all human and mouse tissues analyzed to date. READ MORE

  2. 2. The expression and molecular functions of LRIG proteins in cancer and psoriasis

    Author : Terese Karlsson; Håkan Hedman; Mikael Johansson; Roger Henriksson; Kim Jensen; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; LRIG1; LRIG2; LRIG3; LMO7 lung cancer; glioma; psoriasis; Oncology; onkologi;

    Abstract : The leucine-rich repeats and immunoglobulin-like domains (LRIG) family consists of three integral membrane proteins that are important in human cancer. LRIG1 is a negative regulator of growth factor signaling. Its expression is associated with longer survival in several cancer types, and the gene has been shown to function as a tumor suppressor. 3. 3. Molecular and physiological functions of LRIG proteins and netrin-1 in health and disease

    Author : Carl Herdenberg; Håkan Hedman; Richard Palmqvist; Maréne Landström; Aristidis Moustakas; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LRIG; Netrin-1; LRIG1; LRIG2; LRIG3; Type 2 diabetes; Oncology; onkologi;

    Abstract : The leucine-rich repeats and immunoglobulin-like domains (LRIG) gene family has three members, LRIG1, LRIG2, and LRIG3, that encode three structurally similar transmembrane proteins. LRIG1 is a receptor tyrosine kinase regulator, tumor suppressor, and stem cell marker in the skin, intestine, and brain. READ MORE

  4. 4. Genotype-phenotype studies in brain tumors

    Author : Soma Ghasimi; Ulrika Andersson; Beatrice Melin; Roger Henriksson; Clemens Dirven; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Glioma; Meningioma; SNP; IHC; FISH; LRIG2; EGF; EGFR; ERBB2; ER; CDKN2A B; IDH1; onkologi; Oncology;

    Abstract : Meningioma and glioma are the most common primary brain tumors, but their etiologies are largely unknown. Although meningioma is usually benign, their intracranial location can lead to lethal consequences, and despite progress in surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy the prognosis for patients with glioma remains poor. 5. 5. Identification and investigations of leucine-rich repeats and immunoglobulin-like domains protein 2 (LRIG2)

    Author : Camilla Holmlund; Håkan Hedman; Roger Henriksson; Monica Nistér; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : LRIG; PDGF; oligodendroglioma; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; onkologi; Oncology;

    Abstract : Receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) constitute a family of proteins controlling cell growth and proliferation and whose activities are tightly controlled in normal cells. LRIG1 is a negative regulator of RTK signaling and is a proposed tumor suppressor. The aim of this thesis was to identify and study possible paralogs of LRIG1. READ MORE
