  1. 1. Specification and synthesis of plans using the features and fluents framework

    Author : Lars O Karlsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : An autonomous agent operating in a dynamical environment will face a number of different reasoning problems, one of which is how to plan its actions in order to pursue its goals. For this purpose, it is important that the agent represents its knowledge about the world in a coherent, expressive and well-understood way, in our case the temporal logics from Erik Sandewall's ”Features and Fluents” framework. 2. 2. Effects of PGC1a-induced exercise adaptations in muscle on plasticity and recovery mechanisms in the CNS

    Author : Lars O Karlsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; muscle; brain; exercise; transgenic; PGC-1α; FNDC5; irisin;

    Abstract : In this thesis, we sought to determine if muscle-derived exercise-induced signaling via PGC-1α muscle activation influences neuroplasticity under physiological or pathophysiological conditions. For this purpose, transgenic mice with muscle-specific overexpression of PGC-1α that display an endurance exercise muscle phenotype were evaluated in models of cranial irradiation and photothrombotic stroke, as well as in aging and in a voluntary running paradigm. 3. 3. Pharmacological interventions against myocardial ischemia and reperfusion injury

    Author : Lars O Karlsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Myocardial reperfusion injury; opioids; cyclosporine A;

    Abstract : Background: Ischaemic heart disease is the leading cause of death in the industrialised world. Although the concept of early restoration of coronary blood-flow constitutes an important factor to reduce the injury caused by myocardial ischaemia, reperfusion in itself can aggravate the damage to myocardial tissue, a phenomenon denoted myocardial reperfusion injury. 4. 4. Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy : Genetic and Electrocardiographic Aspects on Risk of Ventricular Arrhythmia and Diagnosis

    Author : Anneli Svensson; Cecilia Gunnarsson; Pyotr Platonov; Lars O. Karlsson; Perry M. Elliott; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Introduction: ARVC (Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy) is a heritable rare disease of the heart muscle, primarily affecting the right ventricle, that may cause arrhythmias and heart failure.Aim: The overall aim of this thesis was to study various aspects of genetic information and electrocardiography (ECG), for their use in diagnosis and risk evaluation in ARVC.
