  1. 1. Laser-Produced Plasmas for Particle Acceleration

    Author : Kristoffer Svensson; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis describes experimental studies that aim to stabilise and optimise laser-based particle accelerators. The technique is called laser wakefield acceleration, where electric fields of the order of 102 GV/m accelerate electrons to high energies (⇠102 MeV) over mm-distances in laser-produced plasmas. 2. 2. A new laser-plasma X-ray source for microscopy and lithography

    Author : Lars Rymell; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; X-ray microscopy; X-ray lithography; Atomic and molecular physics; multilayer mirror; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Rymell; Atom- och molekylärfysik; X-ray source; Laser-produced plasma; liquid droplet; debris-free; water window;

    Abstract : A new high-brightness source for soft X-rays and EUV-radiation has been developed. This laser-plasma source utilizes a microscopic liquid droplet or jet as target. The result is a reduction of debris emission by several orders of magnitude compared to conventional laser plasmas. READ MORE

  3. 3. Laser-Matter Interactions at Extreme Irradiance: X-ray Generation and Relativistic Channelling

    Author : Anders Sjögren; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; relativistic self-focusing; particle acceleration; x-ray generation; radiography; Laserteknik; Laser technology; laser-produced plasma; light scattering; Fysicumarkivet A:2002:Sjögren;

    Abstract : This thesis summarizes experimental work in which the powerful Ti:sapphire lasers at the High Power Laser Facility at the Lund Laser Centre have been employed to investigate laser-produced X-rays and relativistic channelling. These lasers produce short pulses, of the order of 50 fs, with energies ranging from 1 mJ to 1 J. READ MORE

  4. 4. Characterisation and application of a laser-based hard x-ray source

    Author : Matthias Grätz; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; X-ray spectroscopy; radiography; medical imaging; differential imaging; time-gated imaging; scatter reduction; Monte Carlo simulation; Atomic and molecular physics; computed tomography; Fysicumarkivet A:1998:Grätz; laser-produced plasma; Atom- och molekylärfysik; X-ray sources;

    Abstract : Hard X-rays are generated by focusing 110 fs laser pulses with intensities of about 1017 W·cm-2 onto solid metal targets. Characteristic properties of this X-ray source are the small source size, the short pulse duration and the high peak flux. READ MORE

  5. 5. Laboratory Soft X-Ray Cryo Microscopy: Source, System and Bio Applications

    Author : Emelie Fogelqvist; Hans Hertz; David Attwood; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; X-ray microscopy; X-ray optics; Instrumentation; Laser plasma; Cryofixation; Tomography; Tomographic reconstruction; Autophagy; Immune synapse; Physics; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Soft x-ray microscopes routinely perform high-resolution 3D imaging of biological cells in their near-native environment with short exposure times at synchrotron radiation facilities. Some laboratory-sized microscopes are aiming to make this imaging technique more accessible to a wider scientific community. READ MORE
