    Abstract : Structuring of semiconductor materials is utilized in many optoelectronic devices, e.g, in order to make them more efficient, cost-effective, and/or to obtain specific wavelength-engineered responses. Semiconductor materials are widely used in optoelectronic devices due to their favorable optical and electric properties. READ MORE

    Abstract : Transparent wood (TW) shows interesting optical properties and offers a sustainable alternative to petroleum-based polymer glasses. The influence of the TW internal structure (e.g. READ MORE

  3. 3. Total internal reflection ellipsometry : principles and applications

    Author : Michal Poksinski; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Spectroscopic ellipsometry has been used under conditions of total internal reflection to form a new measurement technique called Total Internal Reflection Ellipsometry. When measurement settings are appropriate for surface plasmon resonance to occur it is possible to combine the advantages of both ellipsometry and surface plasmon resonance and obtain very high sensitivity and precision. 4. 4. On focusing of shock waves

    Author : Veronica Eliasson; Nicholas Apazidis; John Dear; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; converging shock; Euler equations; imploding shock; Mach reflection; regular reflection; shock focusing; shock tube; Fluid mechanics; Strömningsmekanik;

    Abstract : Both experimental and numerical investigations of converging shock waves have been performed. In the experiments, a shock tube was used to create and study converging shock waves of various geometrical shapes. Two methods were used to create polygonally shaped shocks. READ MORE

  5. 5. Two-Barrier Problems in Applied Probability: Algorithms and Analysis

    Author : Mats Pihlsgård; Matematisk statistik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Statistics; operations research; programming; actuarial mathematics; Statistik; Matematik; Mathematics; Naturvetenskap; Natural science; Reflection; Stochastic processes; Applied probability; Queueing; operationsanalys; programmering; aktuariematematik;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of five papers (A-E). In Paper A, we study transient properties of the queue length process in various queueing settings. We focus on computing the mean and the Laplace transform of the time required for the queue length starting at $x0. We define the loss rate due to the reflection. READ MORE
