  1. 1. G-Convergence and Homogenization of some Sequences of Monotone Differential Operators

    Author : Liselott Flodén; Anders Holmbom; Nils Svanstedt; Mårten Gulliksson; Björn Birnir; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; G-convergence; Homogenization; Multiscale convergence; Two-scale convergence; Monotone opertors; Functional analysis; Partial differential equations; Mathematical analysis; Analys;

    Abstract : This thesis mainly deals with questions concerning the convergence of some sequences of elliptic and parabolic linear and non-linear operators by means of G-convergence and homogenization. In particular, we study operators with oscillations in several spatial and temporal scales. READ MORE

  2. 2. Viana maps and limit distributions of sums of point measures

    Author : Daniel Schnellmann; Michael Benedicks; Masato Tsujii; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Viana maps; absolutely continuous invariant measures; skew-products; quadratic maps; Bernoulli convolutions; absolute continuity; typical points; equidistributed sequences; uniformly distibuted sequences; Mathematical analysis; Analys;

  3. 3. Renormalization of Lorenz Maps

    Author : Björn Winckler; Marco Martens; Michael Benedicks; Welington de Melo; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematical analysis; Analys;

    Abstract : This thesis is a study of the renormalization operator on Lorenz αmaps with a critical point. Lorenz maps arise naturally as first-return maps for three-dimensional geometric Lorenz flows. Renormalization is a tool for analyzing the microscopic geometry of dynamical systems undergoing a phase transition. READ MORE

  4. 4. Resonances of Dirac Operators

    Author : Jimmy Kungsman; Wolfgang Staubach; Roman Schubert; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Semiclassical analysis; Dirac operator; resonances; Poisson trace formula; scattering theory; complex absorbing potential; pseudodifferential operator; Mathematics; Matematik;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of a summary of four papers dealing with resonances of Dirac operators on Euclidean 3-space. In Paper I we show that the Complex Absorbing Potential (CAP) method is valid in the semiclassical limit for resonances sufficiently close to the real line if the potential is smooth and compactly supported. 5. 5. On determinantal point processes and random tilings with doubly periodic weights

    Author : Tomas Berggren; Maurice Duits; Neil O'Connell; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Determinantal point processes; Periodically weighted random tilings; Central Limit Theorems; Riemann-Hilbert problems; Mathematics; Matematik;

    Abstract : This thesis is dedicated to asymptotic analysis of determinantal point processes originating from random matrix theory and random tiling models. Our main interest lies in random tilings of planar domains with doubly periodic weights. READ MORE
