1. Heat Balance Modeling of a Stationary Fluidized-Bed Furnace Burning Biomass
Abstract : The influence of biomass fuel properties on the heat balance of the bottom region (bed and splash zone) of a commercial-scale bubbling fluidized-bed furnace is investigated theoretically and experimentally. The experiments have been carried out at the Chalmers 12 MWth research boiler, operated under non-circulating conditions during most of the experiments. READ MORE

2. Significance of transport dynamics on concentration statistics and expected mass fraction based risk assessment in the subsurface
Abstract : This thesis relies on a Langrangian framework used for conservative tracer transport simulations through 2-D heterogeneous porous media. Conducted numerical simulations enable large sets of concentration values in both spatial and temporal domains. READ MORE

3. Development and Assessment of Regeneration Methods for Commercial Automotive Three-Way Catalysts
Abstract : Car exhaust catalysts were introduced in the early 1980’s, to limit the release of pollutants such as hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides. These catalysts contain noble metals such as palladium (Pd), platinum (Pt) and rhodium (Rh) and are able to simultaneously abate all three of the above-mentioned pollutants, hence the name three-way catalyst (TWC). 4. Emissions, dynamics and dispersion of particles in polluted air
Abstract : The main objective of this thesis is to yield information on how atmospheric fine and ultrafine particles are dispersed in populated areas. Quantitative information on emissions, transport and removal is needed to assess the health risks of inhalable particles. READ MORE

5. Nano-segregated soft materials observed by NMR spectroscopy
Abstract : This thesis is about using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy for studying soft materials. Soft materials may be encountered everyday by most readers of this thesis, for example when taking a shower or watching TV. The usefulness of these materials originates from them being soft yet, at the same time, having some kind of a structure. READ MORE
