  1. 1. Some Aspects of Foamed Bitumen Technology

    Author : May Namutebi; Björn Birgisson; Umaru Bagampadde; Jonas Ekblad; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Foamed bitumen; Aggregate coating; Rice density; Foam characteristics; Surface energy; Locking concept; Gyratory; Compaction; Optimum moisture content; Other civil engineering and architecture; Övrig samhällsbyggnadsteknik och arkitektur;

    Abstract : Although foamed bitumen has been widely applied in pavement construction some of its aspects are still not yet understood. In this study, some of these aspects including: effects of the foaming process on binder chemistry, characterization of foamed bitumen and development of a rational method to optimize foam characteristics, evaluation of aggregate particle coating within foamed bitumen treated materials, and development of a gyratory compaction procedure for laterite gravels treated with foamed bitumen were addressed. 2. 2. On Design and Applications of Practical Concurrent Data Structures

    Author : Ivan Walulya; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; combining; multicore; stream processing; atomicity; concurrent data structures; non-blocking; synchronization; lock-free; locking;

    Abstract : The proliferation of multicore processors is having an enormous impact on software design and development. In order to exploit parallelism available in multicores, there is a need to design and implement abstractions that programmers can use for general purpose applications development. READ MORE

  3. 3. High Power, Long Wavelength Semiconductor Disk Lasers for Continuous and Mode-Locked Operation

    Author : Hans Lindberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mode-locking; thermal management; spectral properties; optically pumped; single frequency; beam quality; vertical-external-cavity surface-emitting laser; disk laser; Semiconductor laser;

    Abstract : The semiconductor disk laser has recentlyemerged as an attractive alternative to bulky and power consuming gas and solid state lasers. It offers compact, powerful and efficient devices with W level output power and beam properties earlier not achieved with semiconductor lasers. READ MORE
