  1. 16. Molecular Association Studied by NMR Spectroscopy

    Author : Lars Nordstierna; István Furó; Peter Griffiths; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NMR; spin relaxation; self-diffusion; intermolecular cross-relaxation; chemical shift; fluorinated surfactants; hydrogenated surfactant; micelle; non-ideal mixing; adsorption; hydration; surfactant-protein association; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : This Thesis presents studies of molecular association in aqueous solution and at the liquid/solid interface. The investigated molecular systems range from self-aggregating surfactants to hydration water in contact with micelles or individual molecules. In most studies, combinations of various NMR methods were applied. READ MORE

  2. 17. A Quantum Chemical View of Molecular and Nano-Electronics

    Author : Jun Jiang; Yi Luo; Jim Greer; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : This dissertation presents a generalized quantum chemical approach for electron transport in molecular electronic devices based on Green's function scattering theory. It allows to describe both elastic and inelastic electron transport processes at first principles levels of theory, and to treat devices with metal electrodes either chemically or physically bonded to the molecules on equal footing. 3. 18. Ab initio prediction of the mechanical properties of alloys

    Author : Guisheng Wang; Levente Vitos; Qing-Miao Hu; Douglas Irving; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Industriell ekonomi och organisation; Industrial Engineering and Management;

    Abstract : At the time of the 50th anniversary of the Kohn-Sham method, ab initio calculations based on density functional theory have formed an accurate, efficient, and reliable method to work on the properties of engineering materials. In this thesis, we use the exact muffin-tin orbitals method combined with the coherent-potential approximation to study the mechanical properties of high-technology materials. READ MORE

  4. 19. On a laser anglemeter for mobile robot navigation

    Author : Kalevi Hyyppä; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Industriell elektronik; Industrial Electronics;

    Abstract : A laser anglemeter for use in a navigation system for mobile robots has been developed. The anglemeter measures heading angles to beacons made of vertical stripes of retroreflective tape. The anglemeter uses an- optical system with a rotating mirror. READ MORE

  5. 20. Effective vibro-acoustical modelling of rubber isolators

    Author : Michael Coja; Leif Kari; Wolfgang Kropp; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Applied mechanics; Rubber isolator; Bush mounting; Dynamic stiffness; Waveguide; Fractional derivatives; Mode-matching; Pre-compressed; Prestrain; Preload; Predeformation; Viscoelasticity; Dispersion; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : This thesis, gathering four papers, concerns the enhancement in understanding and modelling of the audible dynamic stiffness of vibration rubber isolators including experimental measurements. Paper A studies the performances of three different types of vibration isolator using an indirect measurement technique to estimate the blocked dynamic transfer stiffness of each specimen. READ MORE
