1. Palladium-catalyzed C-H functionalization of alkenes under oxidative conditions
Abstract : The unique properties of high oxidation state palladium have been used to develop new catalytic alkene C-H functionalization reactions. A Heck-type coupling based on the reactivity of palladium catalysts and diaryliodonium salts has been developed with broad synthetic scope and tolerance for functional groups that are ordinarily reactive in Pd0/PdII catalysis, for example, allylic acetates and aryl bromides. 2. Transition metal-catalyzed allylic and vinylic functionalization : Method development and mechanistic investigations
Abstract : The use of small molecule building blocks in, for example, pharmaceutical research and new material development, creates a need for new and improved organic synthesis methods. The use of transition metals as mediators and catalysts opens up new reaction pathways that have made the synthesis of completely new compounds possible as well as greatly improved the synthetic routes to known compounds. 3. Holocene carbon and nitrogen accumulation rates and contemporary carbon export in discharge : a study from a boreal fen catchment
Abstract : The contemporary role of mires in land-atmosphere exchange of carbon dioxide (CO₂) is the subject of intense scientific debate. Investigating patterns and mechanisms of variations in past carbon (C) accumulation rates as well as contemporary C fluxes of peatlands facilitates predictions of future mire C sink strength under a changing climate. 4. Histone modification regulated bysuppressor of Zeste 12 and Ipl1 : Aurora-like kinase in Drosophila
Abstract : Polycomb group (PcG) proteins are a group of genome wide silencers that are crucial for many processes during the development. In Drosophila PcG proteins are organised into four different complexes: PRC1, PRC2, PhoRC and PR-DUB. PRC2 consists of four core proteins: Su(z)12, E(z), Esc and Nurf. READ MORE

5. Communicating performance measures : Supporting continuous improvement in manufacturing companies
Abstract : Manufacturing enterprises are a key driver of economic growth (Eurostat, 2016). Implementing continuous improvement (CI) is commonly used to increase competitiveness (Hyland et al., 2007), but despite the well-known theory of CI, many manufacturing companies fail in implementing it (Bhasin, 2012; Nordin et al., 2012; Tiwari et al.
