  1. 1. Echocardiography/Doppler for the evaluation of coronary artery function, left ventricular function and the relationship between early diastolic and systolic function

    Author : Reidar Winter; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; coronary flow reserve; contrast echocardiography; early diastolic downward velocity; flow propagation velocity; colour M-mode; diastolic function; Echocardiography; Doppler; Kardiovaskulära systemet; Cardiovascular system;

    Abstract : Two specific areas of development in echocardiography are assessment of left ventricular (LV) diastolic function and myocardial ischemia. This thesis describes echocardiographic methodology in these two areas. READ MORE

  2. 2. Transoesophageal and transthoracic recordings of mitral annulus motion

    Author : Bo Nilsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Left ventricular function; echocardiography; M-mode; tissue Doppler; mitral annulus systolic and diastolic velocities;

    Abstract : Maximal systolic and diastolic velocities recorded from four sites of the mitral annulus motion (MAM) reflect left ventricular (LV) performance. This thesis focus on factors influencing M-mode derived velocities in healthy children and adults and reference values are proposed. READ MORE

  3. 3. Usefulness of coronary angiography for assessing left ventricular function

    Author : Anders Kähäri; Bertil Svane; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : This thesis focus on the physiological information, on left ventricular (LV) motion in the long axis, evaluated in routine coronaty angiography sequences and based on previous knowledge from echocardiographic studies. As coronary angiography has become a very frequent examination, a method for assessment of LV function from routine coronary angiograms would probably have a significant impact on clinical work. 4. 4. Tissue Doppler in Spectral and Color ModeMethodological ConsiderationsNon-invasive Estimation of Left Ventricular Filling Pressures using the E/Em index

    Author : Aristomenis Manouras; Lars Åke Brodin; Michael Henein; KTH; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Tissue Doppler; Cardiology; Kardiologi;

    Abstract : Aims: Tissue Doppler (TD) in spectral mode (spectral TD) and color TD are the two modalities available today in tissue velocity echocardiography (TVE). Measurements of left ventricular (LV) myocardial velocities and displacement may yield different results depending on the employed sonographic modality and the subjective adjustments during data analysis. 5. 5. Annular Motion : Assessment of Cardiac Function using Echocardiography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging

    Author : Lena Lindström; Otto Smiseth; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : This thesis concentrates on the assessment of cardiac function, both systolic and diastolic using variables originating from the longitudinal motion of the heart using both established and novel non-invasive imaging techniques. We developed a new magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technique that creates an M-mode MRI image, analogous to the one used in echocardiography and enables quantitative assessment of cardiac motion.
