  1. 1. Affinity assays for profiling disease-associated proteins in human plasma

    Author : Sanna Byström; Jochen M. Schwenk; Claudia Fredolini; Peter Nilsson; Jennifer Van Eyk; KTH; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; proteomics; affinity proteomics; immunoassay; antibody microarray; suspension bead array; protein profiling; immuno-capture; plasma; serum; cerebrospinal fluid; biomarker discovery; multiple sclerosis; malignant melanoma; mammographic breast density; Bioteknologi; Biotechnology;

    Abstract : Affinity-based proteomics offers opportunities for the discovery and validation of disease-associated proteins in human body fluids. This thesis describes the use of antibody-based immunoassays for multiplexed analysis of proteins in human plasma, serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). READ MORE

  2. 2. tRNA Gene Structures in Bacteria

    Author : B. M. Fredrik Pettersson; Leif A. Kirsebom; Anders Byström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Abstract : In bacteria, tRNA molecules are produced as precursors with additional nucleotides both upstream and downstream of the tRNA coding sequence. To generate a mature tRNA, the endoribonuclease RNase P removes the upstream sequence, while a number of enzymes can remove the downstream sequence. READ MORE

  3. 3. Fire temperature development in enclosures : Some theoretical and experimental studies

    Author : Alexandra Byström; Björn Karlsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Steel Structures; Stålbyggnad;

    Abstract : This thesis is devoted to problems connected to heat transfer and fire dynamics in enclosures. The thesis consists of a main part which summarizes and discusses the theory of heat transfer, conservation of energy and fire dynamics. Based on these theories, some cases of different fire scenarios have been analyzed. READ MORE

  4. 4. Colorectal cancer treatment and early response evaluation : how do we best evaluate treatment response?

    Author : Per Byström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Colorectal cancer; TIMP-1; tumor marker; PET; CEA; CA19-9; TPA; SAA; CRP; prealbumin; HRQoL;

    Abstract : Colorectal cancer (CRC) is common, being responsible for around 12% of new cancers in Sweden, and contributing heavily to the large numbers of cancer deaths yearly. CRC is the second most common cause of cancer death not only in Sweden but also worldwide. READ MORE
