1. Strong n-generators in some one-dimensional domains
Abstract : Let R be a commutative Noetherian one-dimensional domain such that each ideal in R can be generated by n elements. A strong n-generator in R is an element r which can be chosen as one of n generators for each ideal in which it is contained. READ MORE

2. Some Markov Processes in Finance and Kinetics : Markov Processes
Abstract : This thesis consists of four papers. The first two papers treat extremes for L\'evy processes, while papers three and four treat the Kac model with unbounded collision kernel. READ MORE

3. Ekedahl Invariants, Veronese Modules and Linear Recurrence Varieties
Abstract : The title of this thesis refers to the three parts of which it is composed. The first part concerns the Ekedahl Invariants, new geometric invariants for finite groups introduced in 2009 by Torsten Ekedahl. READ MORE

4. The Double Layer Potential Operator Through Functional Calculus
Abstract : Layer potential operators associated to elliptic partial differential equations have been an object of investigation for more than a century, due to their contribution in the solution of boundary value problems through integral equations. In this Licentiate thesis we prove the boundedness of the double layer potential operator on the Hilbert space of square integrable functions on the boundary, associated to second order uniformly elliptic equations in divergence form in the upper half-space, with real, possibly non-symmetric, bounded measurable coefficients, that do not depend on the variable transversal to the boundary. 5. Semigroups of Sets Without the Baire Property In Finite Dimensional Euclidean Spaces
Abstract : A semigroup of sets is a family of sets closed under finite unions. This thesis focuses on the search of semigroups of sets in finite dimensional Euclidean spaces Rn, n ≥ 1, which elements do not possess the Baire property, and on the study of their properties. READ MORE
