1. Wireless Communication with Medical Implants: Antennas and Propagation
Abstract : With the increased sophistication of medical implants, there is a growing need for flexible high-speed communication with the implant from outside the body. Today the communication is done by an inductive link between the implant and an external coil at a low carrier frequency. READ MORE

2. Silicon Integrated HBV Frequency Multipliers for THz Applications
Abstract : This thesis deals with integrated varactor diode circuits for terahertz (THz) applications. In particular hybrid, monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs), and heterogeneous integration are explored for frequency multiplier applications. READ MORE

3. Antibiotic resistance in Lactobacillus reuteri and Lactobacillus plantarum
Abstract : Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) may act as reservoirs of antibiotic resistance genes that can be transferred via the food chain or within the gastrointestinal tract to pathogenic bacteria. This thesis provides data required for assessing the potential risk of using antibiotic resistant strains of the LAB species Lactobacillus reuteri and Lactobacillus plantarum as food processing aids or probiotics. 4. Studies on the molecular mechanisms of resistance to fluoroquinolones and carbapenems in selected bacterial species
Abstract : The emergence of mutant bacteria with multi-resistant phenotype, no longer responsive to any of the available therapeutic agents is a growing concern. We have investigated the resistance mechanisms to two classes of antibacterials with broad spectrum of activity, carbapenems and fluoroquinolones. READ MORE
