  1. 1. Nonlinear Modeling and Feedback Control of Drug Delivery in Anesthesia

    Author : Margarida M. Silva; Alexander Medvedev; Teresa Mendonça; Torbjörn Wigren; Robain De Keyser; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; anesthesia; drug delivery; feedback control; nonlinear modeling; pharmacokinetics pharmacodynamics; PID control; system identification; Wiener model; Elektroteknik med inriktning mot reglerteknik; Electrical Engineering with specialization in Automatic Control;

    Abstract : General anesthesia is a drug-induced reversible state where neuromuscular blockade (NMB), hypnosis, and analgesia (jointly denoted by depth of anesthesia - DoA) are guaranteed. This thesis concerns mathematical modeling and feedback control of the effect of the muscle relaxants atracurium and rocuronium, the hypnotic propofol, and the analgesic remifentanil. READ MORE

  2. 2. 2D and 3D Seismic Surveying at the CO2SINK Project Site, Ketzin, Germany: The Potential for Imaging the Shallow Subsurface

    Author : Sawasdee Yordkayhun; Christopher Juhlin; Charlotte Krawczyk; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Inversion; Traveltime tomography; 3D seismic surveys; Seismic velocity; Seismic source; CO2SINK project; Geophysics; Geofysik;

    Abstract : Seismic traveltime inversion, traveltime tomography and seismic reflection techniques have been applied for two dimensional (2D) and three dimensional (3D) data acquired in conjunction with site characterization and monitoring aspects at a carbon dioxide (CO2) geological storage site at Ketzin, Germany (the CO2SINK project). Conventional seismic methods that focused on investigating the CO2 storage and caprock formations showed a poor or no image of the upper 150 m. READ MORE

  3. 3. 3D-modeling of the Skellefte district using electrical, potential field and reflection-seismic data : A basis for 4D-modeling of mineral belts

    Author : Saman Tavakoli; Lena Persson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Tillämpad geofysik; Applied Geophysics;

    Abstract : As a part of a 4D modeling project, two studies with different scopes were conducted in the central Skellefte district (CSD), northern Sweden. The aim of the studies is to create a basis for a better understanding of the spatial relationship between geological structures and mineralization and to construct a 3D and 4D geology model of the area. 4. 4. Experimental Observations and Theoretical Modeling of Lightning Interaction with Tall Objects

    Author : Helin Zhou; Rajeev Thottappillil; Gerhard Diendorfer; Daohong Wang; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Tall objects; Upward lightning initiation; Charge density distribution; Upward positive lightning; Upward bipolar lightning;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates various discharge processes associated with upward lightning initiated from tall objects, both experimentally and theoretically, trying to bridge the knowledge-gap in understanding the mechanisms of the phenomena.Upward lightning initiation has attracted a great deal of interest during recent years due to the proliferation of tall communication towers and wind turbines.
