    Abstract : Increased possibilities during the last decades for early detection of prostate cancer have sparked research on preventable or treatable risk factors and on improvements in therapy. Treatments of the disease still entail significant side effects potentially affecting men during the rest of their lives. READ MORE

  2. 2. Neutron emission spectroscopy studies of fusion plasmas of deuterium-tritium in tokamaks

    Author : Marco Tardocchi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Applied Nuclear Physics; tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Abstract : Neutron emission spectroscopy measurements were performed at the Joint European Torus(JET) to study fusion plasmas of deuterium-tritium. The instrument used, the magnetic protonrecoil (MPR) neutron spectrometer, was designed and optimised for plasmas of high fusionpower (PF). READ MORE

  3. 3. Neutron Spectroscopy Studies of Heating Effects in Fusion Plasmas

    Author : Hans Henriksson; Jan Källne; Joaquín Sánchez; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; neutron emission spectroscopy; diagnostic; fusion research; plasma heating; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Applied Nuclear Physics; tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Abstract : High power fusion plasmas produced in the world’s largest facility for magnetic confinement experiments (JET), have been studied using the neutron emission measured with the magnetic proton recoil (MPR) spectrometer. The MPR has been used to observe plasmas since 1996 including those of deuterium-tritium leading to several fusion records and corresponding observational achievements of neutron emission spectroscopy. 4. 4. Instrumentation for fusion neutron measurements and experimentation at JET

    Author : Johan Frenje; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Applied Nuclear Physics; tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Abstract : A magnetic proton recoil (MPR) spectrometer has been designed and constructed for use at the Joint European Torus (JET) tokamak. It was installed at JET in October 19% and has subsequently been in continuous use during the first main deuterium-tritium (DT) operation in 1997, which culminated in the production of a record plasma generating 16. 5. 5. Neutron Spectroscopy : Instrumentation and Methods for Fusion Plasmas

    Author : Henrik Sjöstrand; Göran Ericsson; Johan Frenje; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Neutron spectroscopy; plasma diagnostics; fusion power; fusion; plasma heating; MPRu; JET; triton burn-up; ITER; neutron yield; calibration; Fusion; Fusion;

    Abstract : When the heavy hydrogen isotopes deuterium (D) and tritium (T) undergo nuclear fusion large amounts of energy are released. At the Joint European Torus (JET) research is performed on how to harvest this energy. Two of the most important fusion reactions, d+d→3He+n (En = 2.5 MeV) and d+t→4He+n (En = 14 MeV), produce neutrons. READ MORE
