  1. 1. Protein-water interactions studied by molecular dynamics simulations

    Author : Filip Persson; Biofysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MD simulations; NMR nuclear magnetic resonance ; MRD; water dynamics; protein dynamics; protein hydration; Amide hydrogen exchange; Internal water; compressibility;

    Abstract : Most proteins have evolved to function optimally in aqueous environments, and the interactions between protein and water therefore play a fundamental role in the stability, dynamics, and function of proteins. Although we understand many details of water, we understand much less about the protein-water interface. READ MORE

  2. 2. Wilms' tumor gene 1 in different types of cancer

    Author : Xingru Li; Aihong Li; Karin Nylander; Eva Lundin; Xiaolian Gu; David M. Loeb; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; WT1; AML; MRD; ccRCC; SNPs; DNA methylation; SCCHN; p63; Clinical Chemistry; klinisk kemi;

    Abstract : The Wilms’ tumor gene 1 (WT1) was first reported as a tumor suppressor gene in Wilms’ tumor. However, later studies have shown the oncogenic properties of WT1 in a variety of tumors. It was recently proposed that WT1 was a chameleon gene, due to its dual functions in tumorigenesis. READ MORE

  3. 3. Ultrasensitive Molecular Monitoring of Breast Cancer and Acute Myeloid Leukemia

    Author : Yilun Chen; Translational Oncogenomics; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Breast cancer; AML; PTEN; PI3K; Liquid biopsy; Sequencing; cfDNA; ctDNA; Structural variants; Mammography; CTC; Mutation detection; IBSAFE; MRD;

    Abstract : Cancer is the common name to a group of biologically diverse malignant neoplastic diseases. Approximately 18 million people are diagnosed with cancer annually and 8.8 million patients die from it. Tumorigenesis and progression of cancer are driven by alterations in the cancer cell genome. 4. 4. Moisture Conditions in Exterior Wooden Walls and Timber During Production and Use

    Author : Lars Olsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; laboratory test; MRD-index; moisture; driving rain; hysteresis; wood; precipitation; timber; weather barrier; mould growth; façade; wall; wind barrier; measurement; field test; mold;

    Abstract : Thermal insulation of building envelopes has improved over the years. This means that building envelope have become more susceptible to defects, with an increased risk of moisture damage. The criteria for energy consumption have become more rigorous, but the shift should not lead to moisture problems. READ MORE

  5. 5. Detection of immunoglobulin heavy chain gene rearrangement with PCR for MRD analysis in lymphoproliferative disorders

    Author : Ulf Thunberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; Minimal residual disease; Immunoglobulin gene rearrangement; PCR; Leukemia; Lymphoma; Myeloma; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Pathology; patologi;

    Abstract : Immunoglobulin heavy chain (IGH) gene rearrangement occurs during early B-lymphocyte differentiation, assembling the different IGH gene segments to a functional gene, which can serve as a marker for study of lineage association and detection of Minimal Residual Disease (MRD) in clonal diseases deriving from B-lymphocytes or their early differentiation stages. Use of a molecular marker for the leukemic cells could help improve treatment by monitoring therapeutic efficacy, predicting relapse, and identifying very small amounts of tumour cells contaminating autografts after purging or enrichment of stem cells.
