  1. 1. Diagnostics for advanced fusion plasma scenarios

    Author : Mattias Kuldkepp; Elisabeth Rachlew-Källne; Fritz Wagner; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MSE; PEM; mirror evolution; fusion; diagnostics; plasma spectroscopy; reversed field pinch; spherical tokamak; intelligent shell; PPCD; MAST; ITER; Molecular physics; Molekylfysik;

    Abstract : Over the past decade, fusion research has showed the potential of being a main candidate for energy production for future generations. Further advances in improved fusion performance are therefore vital. This thesis focuses on advanced fusion plasma scenarios and their diagnostic requirements. READ MORE

  2. 2. Corrosion-included metal runoff from external constructions and its environmental interaction : a combined field and laboratory investigation of Zn, Cu, Cr and Ni for risk assessment

    Author : Sofia Bertling; Inger Odnevall Wallinder; Herbert E. Allen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Environmental technology; Atmospheric corrosion; metal runoff; metal dispersion; soil; limestone; retention; Miljöteknik; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Abstract : The 1990s has seen an increased awareness of possible environmental effects of corrosion-induced metal release from outdoor constructions. Considerable efforts have been initiated to perform critical assessments of possible risks of selected metals. Gaps of knowledge have been identified and research investigations started. READ MORE

  4. 4. On the effect of nitrogen, hydrogen and cooling rate on the solidification and pore formation in Fe-base and Al-base alloys

    Author : Advenit Makaya; Hasse Fredriksson; Zhongyun Fan; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Porous metals; Metal foams; Gas solubility; Fe-base alloys; Al-base alloys; M7C3 carbides; Al3Ti; Al3Fe; Rapid solidification; Metastable phases; Other materials science; Övrig teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Experiments on the production of porous metallic materials were performed on Fe-base and Al-base alloys. The method involves dissolution of gases in the liquid state and solidification at various cooling rates. The alloy compositions were selected to induce solidification of primary particles intended to control the pore distribution. READ MORE
