  1. 1. Model-Based Optimization of Clinical Trial Designs

    Author : Camille Vong; Mats O. Karlsson; Andrew C. Hooker; Lena E. Friberg; Marylore Chenel; Oliver Sander; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nonlinear mixed-effects models; pharmacometrics; likelihood ratio test; NONMEM; power; sample size; study design; proof-of-concept; dose-finding; population optimal design; LOQ; BQL data; neutropenia; docetaxel; myelosuppression; thrombocytopenia; MTD; Bayesian methods; 3 3 algorithm; dose escalation study; Pharmaceutical Science; Farmaceutisk vetenskap;

    Abstract : General attrition rates in drug development pipeline have been recognized as a necessity to shift gears towards new methodologies that allow earlier and correct decisions, and the optimal use of all information accrued throughout the process. The quantitative science of pharmacometrics using pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic models was identified as one of the strategies core to this renaissance. READ MORE

  2. 2. Safety limit estimation for cataract induced by ultraviolet radiation

    Author : Xiuqin Dong; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Ultraviolet radiation UVR ; Sprague-Dawley rat; cataract; light scattering; doseresponse function; maximum acceptable dose MAD ; maximum tolerable dose MTD ; in vivo; in vitro; age.;

    Abstract : Background: Ultraviolet radiation (UVR) is considered one of the major risk factors for agerelated cataract. UVR-induced cataract follows a continuous dose-response function. READ MORE

  3. 3. RADIOIMMUNOTHERAPY & EXTRACORPOREAL ADSORPTION Preclinical Studies of the Pharmacokinetics & Biotinylation of Radioimmunoconjugates in Immunocompetent Rats

    Author : Zhongmin Wang; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; onkologi; cancer; oncology; cancerology; Cytologi; Cytology; extracorporeal adsorption; tri-functional chelator; maximal tolerable dose; biotin; intraperitoneal administration; biodistribution; pharmacokinetics; biotinylation; radiolabeling; rat; monoclonal antibody; radionuclide;

    Abstract : Extracorporeal adsorption (ECAT) is a novel strategy to reduce activity in whole body (WB), blood and radiosensitive organs by removing the excess of radiolabeled and biotinylated monoclonal antibody (MAb) from blood so that tumor/normal tissue ratio (T/N) could be improved. By increasing T/N, higher amounts of radiolabeled MAb might be administered, making it possible to treat disseminated carcinomas. READ MORE

  4. 4. Improved oncological treatment of anal cancer

    Author : Otilia Leon; Tumörmikromiljö; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anal cancer; chemotherapy; Radiotherapy; Prognosis and survival; phase I II trial; Cetuximab; metastatic;

    Abstract : Background: Squamous cell cancer of the anus (SCCA) is a rare malignancy, but the incidence is increasing. It isassociated with humman papilloma virus infection. The standard treatment is radiotherapy (RT) combined withchemotherapy, usually 5-fluorouracil (5FU)/Mitomycin C (MMC). READ MORE

  5. 5. Alpha-radioimmunotherapy with At-211: Evaluations and imaging on normal tissues and tumors

    Author : Tom Bäck; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : radioimmunotherapy; astatine; RBE; renal function; GFR; imaging; targeted radiotherapy; alpha-RIT;

    Abstract : Alpha-radioimmunotherapy (alpha-RIT) is an internal conformal radiotherapy at the cellular level using alpha-particle emitting radionuclides. Alpha-particles have a very short range in tissues (... READ MORE
