  1. 11. Estimation and Detection with Applications to Navigation

    Author : David Törnqvist; Fredrik Gustafsson; Hugh Durrant-Whyte; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Navigation; SLAM; Particle Filter; Estimation; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : The ability to navigate in an unknown environment is an enabler for truly utonomous systems. Such a system must be aware of its relative position to the surroundings using sensor measurements. It is instrumental that these measurements are monitored for disturbances and faults. READ MORE

  2. 12. Three dimensional data analysis for the separation and sizing of laboratory rock piles

    Author : Matthew Thurley; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Signalbehandling; Signal Processing;

    Abstract : The size distribution of piles of blasted and crushed rock in mining is so closely related to the economics of the mine that it must be measured quickly and accurately. This thesis develops a mathematical and 3D imaging solution for determining the size distribution of laboratory rock piles based on surface measurements of the pile... READ MORE

  3. 13. On avoiding and completing edge colorings

    Author : Lan Anh Pham; Klas Markström; Svante Linusson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematics; matematik;

    Abstract : These papers are all related to the problem of avoiding and completing an edge precoloring of a graph. In more detail, given a graph G and a partial proper edge precoloring φ of G and a list assignment L for every non-colored edge of G, can we extend the precoloring to a proper edge coloring avoiding any list assignment? In the first paper, G is a d-dimensional hypercube graph Qd, a partial proper edge precoloring φ and every list assignment L must satisfy certain sparsity conditions. READ MORE

  4. 14. Unwrapping Cobol : Lessons in Crisis Computing

    Author : Linda Hilfling Ritasdatter; Susan Kozel; Maria Hellström Reimer; Florian Cramer; Nishant Shah; Malmö universitet; []
    Keywords : Crisis; Execution; Maintenance; Cobol; Automation; Global Flows; Y2K; Human Factor; Outsourcing; Development; Legacy Systems; Programming Languages; History of Computing; HCI; Software Wrapping; Postcolonial Studies; Diffraction; Broken world thinking; Grace Hopper; Media Archaeology; Debugging; Zombie Media; Obsolescence; Technological Development; Unsettling Ontologies; Fourth Industrial Revolution; Artificial Intelligence; Interaktionsdesign; Interaktionsdesign;

    Abstract : By engaging with COBOL, a detested and would-be obsolete programming language, the dark sides of automation are examined in this thesis: hidden workforces and computational infrastructures that are, in reality, central to the execution and maintenance of global economic and informational flows. Frictions within these flows are made more visible in moments of crisis when asymmetrical power structures are surfaced, as demonstrated in an analysis of the infamous Y2K Bug, its connection to the outsourcing boom in India and the legacy of COBOL. 5. 15. Using hardware simulations in the design of large scale trigger and data acquisition systems

    Author : Göran Appelquist; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bit-serial processing; data acquisition; daq; hardware simulation; hierarchical design; LHC; systolic array; trigger; VHDL; Physics; fysik;

    Abstract : The increasing complexity of physics experiments, especially in the field of high energy physics, requires efficient design methods to be used throughout the development. In the next generation of high energy physics experiments, e.g. READ MORE
