  1. 1. Milankovitch Cycles in Chalks, Danish North Sea, Detected by Use of Magnetic Susceptibility

    Author : Morten G. Stage; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; magnetic susceptibility; Maastrichtian; Milankovitch cycles; North Sea; chalk;

    Abstract : Subdivision of the Maastrichtian chalk from the Danish North Sea has proven to be difficult because of the homogenous composition and appearance. A high-resolution subdivision of the chalk yields new information and better understanding of the depositional environment along with the possibility of an advantageous correlation. READ MORE

  2. 2. Dinoflagellate studies of the Upper Maastrichtian and Danian in southern Scandinavia

    Author : Stefan Hultberg; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Three Swedish borehole cores and three Danish outcrop sections, spanning the Upper Maastrichtian and Danian, have been analyzed for dinoflagellates. Variations in the relative abundances of certain dinoflagellate species have been used to establish a quantitatively defined, high-resolution zonation for the Upper Maastrichtian of southern Scandinavia. Abstract : The Jurassic and Early Cretaceous selachian faunas of Scania (Skåne), southern Sweden and the island of Bornholm (Denmark) have been investigated. Three Early Jurassic shark tooth assemblages have been recorded and investigated, one from Hettangian strata and the other two from Pliensbachian sediments. READ MORE
