  1. 1. Contrast-Enhanced Magnetic Resonance Angiography - Development and optimization of techniques for paramagnetic and hyperpolarized contrast media

    Author : Jonas Svensson; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; egenskaper elektriska; Kondenserade materiens egenskaper:elektronstruktur; spectroscopy; relaxation; Angiography; Magnetic resonance; Contrast-enhanced; Hyperpolarized; Condensed matter:electronic structure; 13C; supraconductors; electrical; magnetic and optical properties; magnetiska och optiska ; supraledare; magnetisk resonans; spektroskopi;

    Abstract : Contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography (CE-MRA) is a diagnostic method for imaging of vascular structures based on nuclear magnetic resonance. Vascular enhancement is achieved by injection of a contrast medium (CM). READ MORE

  2. 2. Proton Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy in Brain Tumors - Clinical Applications

    Author : Isabella Björkman-Burtscher; Lund Diagnostisk radiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radiology; Clinical physics; Localization; Abscess; Brain; Tumor; Spectroscopy; Magnetic Resonance; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering;

    Abstract : Aims: · to present a test phantom and test method for evaluation of proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-MRS) single volume localization techniques regarding signal contamination; · to describe the introduction of 1H-MRS in the daily routine of a standard MR-unit; · to evaluate the possibilities offered by 1H-MRS to improve preoperative diagnostic accuracy in patients scheduled for stereotactic biopsy of intracranial mass lesions; · to evaluate the possibilities offered by 1H-MRS to improve diagnostics and therapy control in patients with brain abscesses; · to test the hypothesis that 1H-MRS might be useful for differentiation of brain tumors, based on metabolic changes in tissue across brain lesions or surrounding tissue. Results and conclusions: · The test phantom and test method allow quality assessment with good reproducibility. READ MORE

  3. 3. Observation Methods and Imaging Techniques. Assessments of physical exposure in repetitive work with focus on neck and upper extremities

    Author : Birgit Juul-Kristensen; Människan i rörelse: hälsa och rehabilitering; []

    Abstract : Observation methods and imaging techniques - assessments of physical exposure in repetitive work with focus on neck and upper extremities The aim of this thesis was to develop, establish and validate observation methods for exposure assessments in epidemiological studies of repetitive work. A second aim was to increase the quality of input data for biomechanical shoulder models, by reliability and validity studies of Magnetic Reso-nance Imaging (MRI) and Ultrasound Scanning (US). 4. 4. Drugs and polymers in dissolving solid dispersions : NMR imaging and spectroscopy

    Author : Carina Dahlberg; István Furó; Anna Millqvist-Fureby; Michael Schuleit; Jadwiga Tritt-Goc; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; Surface and colloid chemistry; Yt- och kolloidkemi; PHARMACY; FARMACI;

    Abstract : The number of poorly water-soluble drug substances in the pharmaceutical pipeline is increasing, and thereby also the need to design effective drug delivery systems providing high bioavailability. One favourable formulation approach is preparation of solid dispersions, where dispersing a poorly water-soluble drug in a water-soluble polymer matrix improves the dissolution behaviour and the bioavailability of the drug.
