1. Modeling of Magnetic Fields and Extended Objects for Localization Applications
Abstract : The level of automation in our society is ever increasing. Technologies like self-driving cars, virtual reality, and fully autonomous robots, which all were unimaginable a few decades ago, are realizable today, and will become standard consumer products in the future. READ MORE

2. Electromagnetic Modeling and Design of Medical Implants and Devices
Abstract : This thesis covers two topics in biomedical electromagnetics: pacemaker lead heating in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and optimization of sensorpositions in magnetic tracking. The electromagnetic part of pacemaker lead heating during MRI is a resonant phenomenon which is complicated by, among other factors, the wide range of length scales involved in the problem. 3. Electromagnetic Modeling and Sensitivity-Based Optimization of Medical Devices
Abstract : Electromagnetics is a fundamental part of biomedical engineering and modern healthcare due to the electromagnetic nature of several important processes in the human body and the interactions of electromagnetic fields with the human body. As a consequence, electromagnetics is exploited for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes by a multitude of medical devices. READ MORE

4. Nuclear magnetic resonance and microcirculation: The influence of pulsatile brain-tissue motion on measurements of intravoxel incoherent motion and assessment of haemodynamics using exo- and endogenous tracers
Abstract : In this project, the potential of magnetic resonance (MR) imaging and spectroscopy in studies of microcirculation and haemodynamics was evaluated. The spatial and temporal characteristics of human pulsatile brain-tissue movements in healthy individuals, relevant for the understanding of the cerebrospinal-fluid (CSF) circulation and the pathogenesis of hydrocephalus, were thoroughly investigated. 5. Tracking and predicting cognitive development using magnetic resonance imaging
Abstract : Neuroimaging of the developing brain has helped describing and quantifying many of the biological processes underlying cognitive development. The protracted development of higher order cognitive functions has allowed detailed description of their neural correlates. READ MORE
