  1. 1. The Importance of Cell-Mediated Immunity for the Development of Type 1 Diabetes

    Author : Maria G. E. Karlsson; Stellan Sandler; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Background Type I (insulin-dependent) diabetes mellitus is an autoimmune disease characterised by infiltration of T-lymphocytes in the islets of Langerhans. In particular, activated Th1-like lymphocytes secreting IFN-γ are suggested to contribute to the inflammatory process and the destruction of ß-cells, whereas Th2-like cells producing IL-4 might even be protective.     Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The composition and properties of raw milk are important for the stability of dairy products, especially for products with long shelf-life, e.g. ultra-high temperature (UHT) treated milk. READ MORE
