  1. 1. Models and solution methods for large-scale industrial mixed integer programming problems

    Author : David Bredström; Mikael Rönnqvist; Dag Wedelin; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematic; linear programming MIP ; production-planning; MATHEMATICS; MATEMATIK;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with large-scale industrial problems that can be formulated using mixed integer linear programming (MIP) models. Because of the large problem size, it is not often possible to apply standard solution methods. Therefore special techniques must be used. READ MORE

  2. 2. Supporting mathematical reasoning through reading and writing in mathematics : making the implicit explicit

    Author : Cecilia Segerby; Malmö högskola; []
    Keywords : Educational Design Research; Grade 4; Mathematic reasoning; Reading; Reciprocal Teaching Model; Systemic Functional Linguistic; Writing;

    Abstract : In school mathematics, mathematical reasoning with an emphasis on language is considered an important competence. A student’s competence to reason in mathematics requires specific reading and writing skills, but suitable activities to support these skills are difficult to find. READ MORE

  3. 3. Study of Induction Machines with Rotating Power Electronic Converter

    Author : Yanmei Yao; Chandur Sadarangani; Zi-Qiang Zhu; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Brushless induction machine; efficiency improvement; optimum efficiency; rotating power electronic converter; unity power factor; variable power factor; wound rotor induction machine; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates a novel induction machine topology that uses a rotating power electronic converter. Steady-state and dynamic performance of the topology is studied to understand its operational principle. Furthermore the potential of improving its efficiency and power factor is investigated. 4. 4. Improvements of the Bromodeoxyuridine-DNA Flow Cytometry Method for the Study of Cell Proliferation

    Author : Maria C Johansson; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; head and neck cancer; [3H]thymidine; energy transfer; cell cycle; xenografted tumours; cultured cells; potential doubling time; labelling index; DNA synthesis time; cell proliferation; growth kinetics; Bromodeoxyuridine; DNA flow cytometry; cancer; onkologi; Cytologi; cancerology; oncology; Cytology;

    Abstract : Potential doubling time (Tpot), DNA synthesis time (TS), and labelling index (LI) are fundamental growth kinetics parameters in clinical and experimental cancer research, which may be of further practical importance regarding prognosis and treatment prediction of cancer. They can be measured by bromodeoxyuridine(BrdUrd)/flow cytometry (FCM) methods, where BrdUrd, an analogue of thymidine, is incorporated into DNA and quantified simultaneously with the DNA content.
