  1. 1. Solid state NMR of multiple-spin systems

    Author : Mattias Edén; Joseph Virlet; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical Chemistry; fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : Many nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experiments subject the nuclear spins to time-periodic modulations, for example, mechanical sample rotation and irradiation by periodic radio-frequency pulse sequences. An efficient simulation algorithm (COMPUTE) has been proposed for calculating NMR spectra from such systems. READ MORE

  2. 2. Structure-Property-Composition Correlations in Rare-Earth Alumino-silicate Glasses

    Author : ANM Shahriar Iftekhar; Mattias Edén; Jekabs Grins; Bo Jonson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fysikalisk kemi; Physical Chemistry;

    Abstract : Rare earth (RE) alumino-silicate (AS) glasses exhibit favorable physical, mechanical and optical properties, such as high values of the glass transition temperature, Vickers hardness, and refractive index. RE2O3-Al2O3-SiO2 glasses have found several industrial applications, for example as components of optical amplifiers and lasers. READ MORE

  3. 3. Structure of Rare-Earth Aluminosilicate Glasses Probed by Solid-State NMR Spectroscopy and Quantum Chemical Calculations

    Author : Aleksander Jaworski; Mattias Edén; Thibault Charpentier; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fysikalisk kemi; Physical Chemistry;

    Abstract : Aluminosilicate glasses incorporating rare earth elements feature highly beneficial physical and chemical properties, at the level beyond that accessible for compositions based on alkali and/or alkaline earth metals. Extraordinary hardness, high glass transition temperatures and indices of refraction, favorable coefficients of thermal expansion, as well as excellent chemical durability, result in many potential technological applications. 4. 4. Structural Investigations of Complex Glasses by Solid-state NMR

    Author : Ekaterina Leonova; Mattias Edén; Robin Harris; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; glass; glass structure and properties; NMR; magic angle spinning; chemical shift; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical Chemistry; fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : This PhD thesis presents structural investigations of amorphous inorganic materials: oxide and oxynitride glasses and mesoporous bioactive glasses (MBGs), by solid-state Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR). Lanthanum oxide and oxynitride [La-Si-(Al)-O-(N)] glasses have a large number of potential applications due to their physical properties. READ MORE
