  1. 1. Machining properties of wood : Tool wear, cutting force and tensioning of blades

    Author : Luis Cristovao; Frieder Scholz; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Träteknik; Wood Technology;

    Abstract : Cutting processes, in general, and wood cutting processes, in particular, are complex to explain and describe with many influencing factors. Wood, in contrast to man-made fabricated materials, is not a homogenous and distinct material, but a multifaceted and nonhomogeneous biological material. READ MORE

  2. 2. Manufacturing and Characterisation of Conductive and Piezoelectric Textile Fibres

    Author : Erik Nilsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; electrical conductivity; polyethylene; polypropylene; Graphite nanoplatelets; smart textiles.; melt spinning; piezoelectric fibres; rheology; conductive fibres; carbon black; graphene; PVDF;

    Abstract : This thesis explores the manufacturing and characterisation of melt spun electrically conductive polymer nanocomposites and piezoelectric textile fibres. Potential applications of these fibres are for example textiles with heating and sensor capabilities. READ MORE

  3. 3. Towards the production of conductive and piezoelectric bicomponent textile fibres

    Author : Erik Nilsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; polypropylene; Graphite nanoplatelets; bi-component fibres; rheology; conductive fibres; carbon black; PVDF; electrical conductivity; piezoelectric fibres; melt spinning;

    Abstract : In the present study electrical conductive and piezoelectric textile fibres have been manufactured and characterized. Potential applications of these fibres are for example textiles with heating and sensor properties. READ MORE

  4. 4. Active Junction Control and Piezoelectric Hybrid Damping for Improving the Acoustic Performance of Lightweight Structures

    Author : Jonas Svensson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hybrid passive-active control; Piezoelectric shunt damping; Sound radiation; Active junction control;

    Abstract : Weight reduction is a key factor in lowering the fuel consumption and thereby the greenhouse emissions from vehicles. However, reducing the weight normally results in a deterioration of the acoustic performance. Thus, the purpose of this thesis is to investigate damping treatments for lightweight vehicle panels. 5. 5. Metastable YAlN and ScAlN thin films : growth and characterization

    Author : Agnė Žukauskaitė; Lars Hultman; Jens Birch; Anita Lloyd Spetz; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : ScxAl1-xN and YxAl1-xN thin films were deposited in a ultra high vacuum system using reactive magnetron co-sputtering from elemental Al, Sc and Y targets in Ar/N2. Their mechanical, electrical, optical, and piezoelectrical properties were investigated with the help of transmission electron microscopy, xray diffraction, ellipsometry, I-V and C-V measurements, and two different techniques for piezoelectric characterization: piezoresponse force microscopy and double beam interferometry.
