  1. 1. A TEM Investigation of Contact between Nanoparticles

    Author : Yiming Yao; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LACBED; CBED; nanoparticles; interface; adhesion; image simulation; energy filtering; misorientation; contacting; strain field TEM;

    Abstract : Interaction between nanoparticles (1~100nm) provides us with answers to fundamental questions in many important applications e.g. adhesion, friction, and cold welding. The attractive force arises from the reduction of the total free surface and thus the total surface energy due to the formation of a boundary between the contacting particles. READ MORE

  2. 2. Polyethylene/metal oxide nanocomposites for electrical insulation in future HVDC-cables : probing properties from nano to macro

    Abstract : Nanocomposites of polyethylene and metal oxide nanoparticles have shown to be a feasible approachto the next generation of insulation in high voltage direct current cables. In order to reach an operationvoltage of 1 MV new insulation materials with reduced conductivity and increased breakdown strengthas compared to modern low-density polyethylene (LDPE) is needed. Abstract : Mineral particles capture water vapor in the atmosphere in the form of water films that are only few monolayers thick. Water films form nanoscale hydration environments that mediate a wide range of important reactions in nature and technology. READ MORE

  4. 4. Functional Metal Oxide Materials Deposited by Inkjet Printing Technique

    Author : Yan Wu; Lyubov Belova; Gillian Gehring; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Inkjet printing; photoconductivity; ZnO; Al-ZnO; composite; electron transfer; CdS; field effect transistor; photosensitive; RT do-ferromagnetism; Mn-doped ZnO; MgO; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : This thesis presents a comprehensive study of the intrinsic room temperature ferromagnetism in 85 to 100nm thin films produced by in situ deposition of industrially important pristine MgO and ZnO by inkjet printing. It is suggested that the observed long range magnetic order, the so-called do magnetism in these oxides arises from cation vacancies. READ MORE

  5. 5. The synthesis, surface modification and use of metal-oxide nanoparticles in polyethylene for ultra-low transmission-loss HVDC cable insulation materials
