  1. 1. On the modeling of anisotropy in pearlitic steel subjected to rolling contact fatigue

    Author : NASIM LARIJANI; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Rolling Contact Fatigue; crack propagation; Anisotropy; plasticity; pearlitic steel; material forces;

    Abstract : One of the main sources of damage caused by Rolling Contact Fatigue (RCF) inrailway components is the large plastic deformations that accumulate in the surface layerof these components. Large plastic deformations in components made of pearlitic steelinduce anisotropy in the mechanical properties of the material. READ MORE

  2. 2. Development of Novel Diffusion NMR Methods : Preclinical Applications in Colloidal Model Systems

    Author : Stefanie Eriksson; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : diffusion NMR; diffusion tensor; Microscopic anisotropy; q-MAS; exchange; liquid crystals; yeast cell suspensions;

    Abstract : NMR is a powerful non-invasive technique utilizing radiofrequency and gradient pulses to manipulate the spinsof atomic nuclei. In particular, diffusion NMR uses strong magnetic field gradients to label the positions of spins allowing for the measurement of translational motion of molecules in liquids. READ MORE

  3. 3. Pushing diffusion MRI towards new dimensions

    Author : Joao Martins; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NMR; MRI; diffusion; relaxation; multidimensional diffusion MRI; relaxation-diffusion correlations; Laplace NMR; porous media; tissue microstructure; heterogeneity; anisotropy;

    Abstract : Diffusion-MRI techniques allow the non-invasive investigation of microstructural changes in living tissues. However, a detailed interpretation of the data is complicated by the fact that multiple microscopic environments with varying diffusion properties all contribute to the measured signal. READ MORE

  4. 4. Ultrafast spin dynamics and relaxation in metallic ferromagnets

    Author : Vivek Unikandanunni; Stefano Bonetti; Olof Karis; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Magnetization dynamics; Three temperature model; Cobalt; Anisotropy; Electron-phonon coupling; THz; Platinum; Silver; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : We performed ultrafast demagnetization measurements on epitaxial hcp-cobalt thin film with the easy axis in the plane of the film by pumping the sample with 400 nm radiation and probing the magneto-optic effects in the longitudinal magneto optic Kerr effect geometry using 800 nm radiation. The in-plane magnetic anisotropy of the sample enabled us to measure the demagnetization dynamics along two different crystalline directions, namely along the easy axis and at 45 degrees between the easy and hard axes. 5. 5. Diffusion MRI with generalised gradient waveforms : methods, models, and neuroimaging applications

    Author : Deneb Boito; Evren Özarslan; Magnus Herberthson; Anders Eklund; Ida Blystad; Frederik Laun; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Diffusion; Diffusion MRI; Microstructure; Brain; White matter; Microscopic anisotropy; Constrained optimisation;

    Abstract : The incessant, random motion of water molecules within biological tissues reveals unique information about the tissues’ structural and functional characteristics. Diffusion magnetic resonance imaging is sensitive to this random motion, and since the mid-1990s it has been extensively employed for studying the human brain. READ MORE
